I can’t seem to convince the obnoxious guy to be more polite without having the game mechanics and UI to start behaving strangely. Not only do you start running into invisible barriers every two steps, but any UI item you open will close itself after a second. Also, there is much too narrow a window at the end of the fight to sheath your sword. If you don’t’ watch your opponent carefully and sheath your sword immediately after seeing him slouch, the entire town begins to converge upon you and you have to pay a fine or fight both your opponent and his friend to the death, which makes you a criminal.
I don’t think it’s possible to kill him in the village, no matter that he starts the fight, you will always end up attacked by bailiff or some soldiers. I’m not sure if he sometimes goes to camp and you can kill him on the way or if he drinks there 24/7. One solution is to dress gambeson and some armor, unsheathe blood stained sword and start to thread him (talk), he will promise to behave better. This works at least for squire. Talking used to work in alpha, but I think you can’t reach enough skill to succeed in beta.
Btw sometimes he runs away and attacks you again.
Of course you can. Just go behind a building. Don’t worry, he’ll follow you. Then kill him, or let him live, the choice is yours.
I’m not trying to kill him. I’m saying that you get a grace period for having your weapon out while you’re fighting him. You manage to hit him a few times and he concedes, but if you aren’t really quick in sheathing your sword, he goes back into combat mode and you get the town penalty for having your sword out.
Not when I’ve played it. He sheathes his axe. It takes 3-4 consecutive hits. If you hit him after that, then he goes back into combat. One arrow is usually enough to get him to stop too. It doesn’t matter if your weapon is out as long as you don’t hit him again.
that is not how it’s working for me.
I tried it a few more times, and I managed to get the glitch. One arrow will end the fight and he gives up, but then invisible walls and if you click on your inventory or a container it automatically closes. He also just stood there instead of apologizing.
If you kill him then you don’t get any of these problems. I also never have a problem with him continuing to fight after he gives up if I don’t hit him after he gives up. No one attacks me either. If you do want to kill him though, just make sure it’s where no one can see.
Even if you do get the glitch, you can solve it by killing him. Not ideal, but at least you can get the game back. Again, just make sure you kill him where no one can see you.
