Yeah, EVE has an in-game item that grants game time, and there was a carrier that was transporting like half a million dollars worth of this item (in real world money). The carrier got destroyed and about 3/4 of the items were destroyed in the explosion. That means that EVE made a ton of money without having to grant anybody extra game time.
Scamming and piracy are encouraged by the developers, and if you’re stupid and accept a contract that rips you off, it’s your own fault. Or if you post something in the marketplace and add an extra zero to the price, you may end up losing a lot of money on the taxes, and nobody will buy it. The devs don’t care, they won’t return the money to you.
While many people think it’s stupid that they don’t help you out if you make mistakes, I think it’s awesome. In real life, if you get scammed or conned, nobody is going to give you the money you lost.
