Space Simulators

Hi, what space simulators do you guys recommend?
So far, I’ve considered Elite: Dangerous and X: Rebirth

What’s good, I have vague knowledge in this category.
I have looked at Star Citizen, but I want something a little more complete.

What I am looking for: Being able to surface on other planets, expansive singleplayer sandbox open world, good graphics, newer, enemy AI’s to fight in open world, people/NPC’s to interact with, possibly building a fleet, third person/first person when flying, side quests, massive open world/sandbox world with lots to do, good story, custom ships, etc. (Multiplayer as well would be nice)

I want something like that for this summer. Those are some qualities I am looking for, but I can live without some of those qualities. So what’s the best sandbox/open world space game out right now that has good graphics and is sort of newer?

I would recommend Elite Dangerous just because that is the largest space sim and quite complex but there is a game coming to PS4 and Windows called No Man’s Sky which seems to check some of the things your looking for especially the planet exploration aspect. Also you should probably move this post to the off-topic section

When does No Man’s Sky come out… I can’t figure out where to preorder

Is Elite: Dangerous singleplayer? Can you surface other planets?

I’m not sure when No Man’s Sky come’s out I’ve not really been following it that closely but ED is multi player but you can disable that and play solo and you can’t surface other planets/

What’s ED single player like can you build an empire and fight NPC ? Lastly anyone played X Rebirth ? Is it good and is the single player what I specify I want? Can you surface planets in it?

I prefer Kerbal Space Program. Its fun to explore other planets and build your own rockets, but graphics are not the best, NPCs are strange and there is no enemy AI or something like this. Only physics and good old science

I’m thinking x rebirth … Is it close to what I want?

I have quite a some hours in Elite Dangerous.
The thing is that the game gets updates every now and then, so it evolves quite a lot.

Whole game is about douing what you like. There are three ways how to earn money.

  • Hunting criminals
  • Exploring
  • Trading (that includes mining, because you have to sell the metal somewhere)

I heard that landing on surface is on of the things that will come in one of the updates.
But I am not sure if there will be fighting outside the ships as Space Citizen has it.

If you decide to play it, I can give you some tips about mining, though it is not very favorite thing amongst palyers.

What are some things to even do elite dangerous single player, also is it pay to win or is it a pay once game?

Are there AI/NPC’s to trade with and fight in Elite: Dangerous singleplayer?

Lastly, I haven’t gotten any responses, is x rebirth any good?

Elite Dangerous is a pay once game, and yes there are shops where you can customize and improve your ship and there are enemies to fight in ED singleplayer, also I don’t know about X: Rebirth I’ve never played it.

Elite: Dangerous requires internet connection to play. Even the singleplayer, because you are still playing on their server.

But even in multiplayer you dont really have to interact with other players. I am not even sure whether you can trade with players.
Whole trading takes place in trading posts, hangars and such.

As for interaction with other players. You can shoot them if they have price on their head. Or you can kill them and loot what they have (but a price will be put on your head in that system)
You can also team up with them and go hunting in a group.

But it kinda has singleplayerish gameplay otherwise.

Space engineers? It’s not exactly sit and fly, but it is incredible fun.

You might wanna take a look at Space Engine (en.spaceengine.org/) and I-Novae Engine / Infinity: Battlescape (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7PmFHlaz8Q) even though they’re missing many of the qualities you named (however that could change in the future).

Infinity Battlescape looks nice… I’m still thinking I want X Rebirth, though I don’t understand why such poor reviews on it.

Are there any currently on Kickstarter that kind of have what I’m looking for? If so can I get some links please?

Have you tried playing EVE? Very high learning curve, but once you figure things out, it’s a really fun game. There are portions of the universe where you won’t run into another ship for hours, as well as places where you’ll take part in a 100 player battle. It’s a beautiful game, and there are tons of things to do, whether you like fighting, trading, mining, or crafting. Hundreds of different ships, each tailored to a specific purpose and style.

I heard that the biggest battle in gaming history in terms of damage and players happened on that game

I also wanted to try EVE but theen Elite: Dangerous happend.

But from what I heard EVE takes a lot of time if you get into it.
Apart from that I heard only good things, seems like top notch game.

EVE Online or EVE Valkyrie??? Can I get a link to buy the best one?
