Speed of Reaction and Skills Balance

First of all, the combat engineering in this game is absolutely fantastic. Although I realize that this is far from final release, I would like to bring up several points which I consider need adjustments.

First of all, when changing weapon in mid-fight, in real life I expect myself and the enemy to do it much faster (and not stopping if walking or running) for obvious reasons. At this stage of the game it takes too long. For instance, when a Cuman is walking towards me, while shooting the bow, then wants to change the bow for the sword, he completely stops, slowly and patiently puts his bow back, patiently takes the sword out… The same goes about Henry and he remains quite vulnerable in this process. This would be okay at shooting range, but not in mid-fight. I hope, this will be somewhat corrected in the final release.

The same goes about the rate of fire of the bow: the current rate is suitable for a competition, but I would expect Henry to act a bit faster with taking arrows from the quiver and pulling the bow.

Finally, I find Cumans really easy to kill in comparison with the soldiers at the Merhojed camp’s arena. Even a “slightly advanced” soldier can give a very tough ass-kick and can be very skillful, while Cumans are like hares: they totally fail in parrying the strikes.

Definitely going to need a speedier combat dismount cause I got rushed while methodically getting off my steed. As far as weapon changing, reminds me of Arma in which the player model has to stop when cycling weapons and really hope thats not end result.

Thats true, I wreck cumans like nobody´s bussiness after few hours in arena  This might be intentional, to prepare you for the tough world around you. It was also stated, that enemies in arena have much more health than usual people, so you can train for longer sessions in row.

I assume that when in the arena you also don’t deliver full-strength strikes and blows 'cause you’re definitely not about killing your opponent. However, Cumans are still too easy to fight with. After several encounters I figured out their tactics completely and the only way they can win is by outnumbering me. Also, when one is approaching you with a melee weapon while the other is backing him up from a distance with a bow - this can go tough. In bow Cumans are extremely skillful.

What I dislike about the combat system and what is probably very hard to improve (or maybe I’m just unaware of something) is when you’re kinda surrounded by 3-4 guys, it becomes harder to switch the “lock” between them quickly enough to be able to counterattack. Also I didn’t quite grasp how the combat engine decides what enemy to lock on when there are several.

I also have very serious issues with target locking and switching.
Especially as I play with controller - you need to hold B to unlock, and than move your cursor to another enemy - but you can´t really do this, as both Right Stick for looking and B button are controlled by right hand, so they are mutually exclusive
