I wonder if it will be feasible to release a standalone character creation tool. Something that players can play with and then export their character to the game when it’s released. Perhaps it can be a part of Alpha or Beta test when we can play around with character creation and then export our character. I know some MMO games let you do that ahead of a game release. Star Citizen released hangar mode where players can walk around and get into ships while the game is still in development.
I know a lot of players spend good chunk of time on character customization and something like this would make them preoccupied.

Sounds like good idea to me. Have your character already in Beta (Alpha is too soon for my taste) with leveling(?) disabled and ability export it … I am always like: “Everything random and play finally, because I will wear an armor all the time”. Maybe I will rise my pledge to get to the Beta? What do you think WH? Maybe 800k stretch goal? :wink:

Sounds great, i would love to see that also, usually i take my time to create the character and then later develop it while playing. If i could do that before i start the game itself it would be a great plus.

I believe they said that character customization is limited to clothing and armor. I don’t think you actually get to customize his face and all that.

According to the last video update, you will be able to customize almost everything (all face and body parts). On the other hand, I believe that armor and clothing will be something you will recieve for quests completion, make or buy. You will start in dirty rags :slight_smile:

Character customization

There are many questions about possibilities of your character customization. Our game is story-based and the hero is a specific character, whose background, personal history, etc. are already developed. You cannot change his gender, voice or face. However, you can change almost everything else – we have a very sophisticated equipment/clothing system, you can change hair styles (in-game, not before starting the game), there are no class limits on attributes.

I believe that video was mainly showing how they create npc’s and armor/clothes customization. I hope they change their mind and let us edit our character though.

Damn, I overlooked that note. Still, making your own character as next stretch goal would be nice.

I don’t think so, because that goes against the vision of the game. The game will be like The Witcher series.

Maybe there will be mods that (let you) change your characters appearance but mods don’t have to fit inside the rest of the story.

Witcher is not a good exmple, you can’t make Geralt with short brown hair and nice blue eyes, you are bond by books, … I don’t know, why appearance of the character is so important for story.

You could customise your character & NPCs in the Mount & Blade series ( IIRC customising NPCs may have been a later community mod ).

It would be great to have a similar feature here. :wink:
