Ok so I just finished a quest in the main story-line where I infiltrate an enemy camp.
I sneaked in there for hours (ingame hours) in fact it’s around 5 hours sneaking, passing behind guards backs and such, never got caught, I even managed to poison 2 pots of food. I thought I would have gained a decent amount of stealth XP, but no just 10 measly points.
Don’t know if it’s a bug or intended but it seems pretty poor to me. If sneaking like that doesn’t make you gain XP what does ? And doesn’t it seem very counter intuitive ?
Takedowns, kills and pickpocketing are what level stealth. Also, you weren’t even in a no trespassing area. So really all you were doing was crouching a lot.
I was walking around enemies unnoticed and I was walking in their camp, and most of the time very close to them (just outside the torch light radius)
I would think that would raise my XP.
Now sneaking in a non private area where people around are not hostile (meaning if I stop crouching and they see me nothing happens) well ok I can understand why there is no XP gain. Even though if I manage to go unnoticed that’s practicing my skill but it could be OP so I get it.
But in an enemy camp surrounded by enemies that would kill me as soon as they spotted me ? That doesn’t make sense to me.
That I would gain less XP by sneaking past a guard than by pick pocketing or killing him ? sure but no Xp at all that’s a bit too much IMO.
