Steam Controller and Combat opinion

Man been playing through the Witcher 3 finally. Been hung up doing other things, time to catch up on some games. Playing through it, makes me want Kingdom Come more than ever. It really is a good game.

Beside that I am writing this for a reason. Mainly because The Witcher 3 has a combat system, I really don’t like (I prefer Dark Souls combat, though the Witcher offers a dodge Dark Souls doesn’t). I just want my opinion to be heard, before the release of Kingdom Come. I have higher expectations, then spamming attack, or just getting overpowered level and gear. I was hoping this bit of my opinion could help. I will be playing with a Steam Controller. Using the X, Y, A, B buttons in combat will make things hard to control, so i’ll be using them for gathering and exploring. Maybe making the Steam controller compatible, will make players happy. I think the Steam controller offers enough other buttons, to offer a great skilled based combat form. Like 2 bottom buttons for dodge and roll, L and R buttons for attacking and blocking, and L and R triggers for secondary attacks, parries, or even a run. That’s all

I can’t wait to play the full game, been trying to stay out of beta, to avoid spoilers!

I personally love using my Xbox One controller. Controls are great and feel very normal to me. In regards to the beta, I don’t think you’ll have many spoilers playing the beta. After all, it’s only about 1/6th of the full game. At any rate, thanks for the input, sir. I still need to play The Witcher 3 myself!

Look at that… I am using PS4 controller, and it is also really great for this game  I don´t know how steam controller is setup, but on PS4 I use default right stick and LB, LT, RB, RT for combat, and it is very intuitive.

Also have you tried witcher 3 on hardest difficulty? I was just fighting few bosses in blood and wine DLC and spamming attack really did no good for me…

We neither have doge nor roll. You would be to slow do to such a thing in heavy armor and rolling on the floor in melee combat is not what you want to do in real life. Our combat system is different and does have attack directions.

Yeah on death martch, was playing story quests only. After I got to the Botchling quest, I had to go from a save to level up. Spamming attacks works well for me, though I do have to dodge and roll once in a while.

True good point. I still think it could be useful, in some points. Dodge more than roll, in the sense you’ll stay on your feet.

Still haven’t played The Witcher 3 yet. I’ve had it for months too :hushed:

I believe that there is dodge. You can press movement key just before enemy strike and Henry will dodge that direction rather than just walk.

Yes… this is a kind of doge… true

Umm… You do too have dodge.
You move at the instant of attack and void it completely.

Much more reliable than attempting the master strikes or parry and counter, because there is less risk of being struck through or around the block.

Footwork is a huge part of martial arts that use line and measure. Twirling and rolling… not so much.
