Storing Loot in Miller Chest Results in Being Stolen

Hiya,

Lovely game, having lots of fun.

I recently stored some loot in the miller chest, some which was not stolen.

However, upon trying to recollect it, it seems that the chest is someone else’s property. Instead of a “Take All” prompt, it will say “Steal” and the item result in ebing stolen, with a red hand.

Is this normal behaviour, a bug, or something I am doing wrong?

Thanks for the game, it’s great!

I know if you store stolen items in the chest they will not appear with the red hand but will appear to “Steal” for a while, if it is a stolen item you stored eventually it will lose this just like if you keep a stolen item on you will eventually not show as stolen. If it is happening to items you put in that are not stolen then it might be bugged, but an easy way to see if you are putting them in the correct chest is go to an inn, rent a room, and check your storage there. Since all storage is shared between your rented rooms and the millers “Home” room anything you put in, if in the correct chest, will show up at the inn room chest.

I think its a bug
the storage chest should not show “steal” when you want to take something out of it since its your chest
for me its the same, was normal in the beginning

My mistake, sorry. It is actually already stolen items only which have the “Steal” prompt, all the other items will simply have the “Take” option.

sorry about that…

yeah I guess as long as you have anything stolen in the chest it says “steal” instead of "open"
The problem is you dont see if an item will appear as stolen in your own inventory because they all appear without the red marker in the chest, at least thats how it is for me…
I can only see if it still counts as stolen when I have it in my or horse inventory
the inventory system in general can use some improvement I’d like to be able to sort the things more into categories like herbs, books, questitems, potions etc. like a dropdown menu.

True, they could improve sorting within the inventory. I personally like the overall realism of the game, it has a gritty feeling and they’ve done a great job of capturing a “middle-ages” flavour-and-tone (apart for the horrible death, disease and witch burning I guess).

Regarding the chest, yes, it doesn’t show items as stolen. I also don’t know if by selecting “Steal” when an item is in the chest the red-hand cooldown resets. It might be a bug, it might be perfectly normal.
