Str and agility weapons

does the scaling on weapons matter?
Is the herold sword the best choice no matter what your agility and str are?

Scaling does matter. A “weaker” weapon will do more damage if you meet its requirements than a weapon that is stronger and you don’t meet said requirements.

EDIT:

So say you have 2 swords:

Sword A – Attck: 75 STR Req: 10
Sword B – Attck: 40 STR Req: 1

If your STR is 5, Sword B will do more damage.

I also believe it scales in terms of how close you are to the required stat, so Henry with STR 8 will do more damage with Sword A than Henry with the same sword (Sword A) but with a STR of 5.

I think. I did some testing on this but it was a while ago.

Thanks for the answering this.
So basically there was isn’t any reason not to get the required str for the herold sword because it’s the best sword in the game.
That’s a shame, I would of thought with high enough agility, some other choices might have come close.

Well, Herod may not be the best sword. What is the best sword would depend on what you prefer doing. I forget what Herod is best at, (slash or stabbing), but I don’t think it has the highest stats in each category.

Herold sword has the highest slash damage - and its a longsword btw so slower than a shortsword.
I think I remember finding 2 swords with higher pierce damage than herolds, but only by a few points, and then herolds slash damage is so much higher than any of those that it makes no sense to use the others.

Of course - right now - at level 19+92% (almost lvl 20) and str at 18, I use a wood cutters axe or a hungarian saber. Why? Because then things dont die in one hit and I can actually fight stuff with this cool combat system.
Still looking for a longsword that has low enough damage that I dont two-shot everything…
Only crappy thing about those weak weapons is their durability is also very low so i have to repair after every fight basically, but handy unlimited repair kit mod fixes the main annoyance of that issue.

Ah okay. By any chance do you know how the St. George sword compares to Herod?

Nope, dont have the stats offhand, and like I said I am actually looking for low damage weapons that I like the look/feel of.
Any of the top tier weapons are now pointless for me to use because they one-hit-kill everything and thats just not fun.

What’s the point in all the other weapons then? And agility weapons? Everything does lower damage than herold,st George and noble sword.
