Stretch goal revealed - Famous actor/actress motion performance

I’d rather have famous voice actor/actresses training/directing unknown voice actors/actresses to perform well, but maybe that would cost more.

200,000 pounds in 24 hours? There is no way that could be done.

I don’t like that last stretch goal at all. CthulhuWho1 is completely right - using a famous actor is of no benefit to the game itself.
And I don’t know any contemporary English-speaking actors anyway.
So why not use that money to make voiceovers in more different languages besides English?! There are many good actors speaking Czech, Russian, German and French as well.

How do you know a known actor won’t help? And like it’s been said, people pledging and people at Warhorse would like to see something worked out with somebody. Why are others so determined to crap all over the idea? I’d be surprised if it hit 1.2M with as little time left as there is anyway, and it’s not like Warhorse is going to go with junk voice actors if they hire someone famous for a role.

what? are you sure that’s what you meant to say?

I love this stretch goal! It would be great to see Stephen Fry/ Brian Blessed/ Sean Bean. I hope they count the post-kickstarter pledges towards this. Sitting with my dog while chatting to Sean Bean would be incredible.

one of the in-game lords looks like brian blessed, they posted picture of brian blessed on twitter, they got interesting phone call, they plan to extend funding after kickstarter. i think they already got him on board if my theories are true.

I find some people’s opinions about this goal being a negative instead of a positive to be quite off-putting. Warhorse had already mentioned that they were keen to hire big name voice actors (specifically Sean Bean) way back in Kickstarter Update #4 on January 25th.

 1. There is nothing stopping them hiring unknown talent as well. They have said they will likely only be able to afford one expensive actor, not cast every character in the game out of Hollywood like some of you seem to be making out.

 2. The pledge you have (likely) already made was for the core game and for stretch goals already announced. There is no one forcing you to pledge more just for this goal.

 3. And finally, this will probably have zero impact on the core objectives set out on the Kickstarter page, or on the stretch goals either for that matter.

I don’t know, more often than not I can at least see the reasoning behind other people’s points of view but this complaining makes about as much sense to me as the guy who was asking for this game to be turned into an MMORPG the other day. :frowning:
I’m inclined to agree sadly, there’s just not enough time left on the clock.

Still, 1 million is an impressive feat in itself and there have been plenty of good stretch goals along the road to that destination.

I like this strech goal although i am bit worried it might not help the game

Exactly  I just don’t watch Hollywood talkies. Only those good, old and silent movies.
And I would reather use extra money to make the authentic Czech/German voices available at the release, not some time after.

I could see someone like Stephen Fry voicing an educated npc, an actor/voice with his eloquence would be a pretty good asset to the game.

Man, Tom Hiddleston would be awesome.

I think he would fit very nicely in the game.

I honestly dont think the Stretch goal of 1.2Mill is enough for a ‘high profile actor/actress’ I have heard of them getting this much for their fee’s alone never mind the rest of the Kickstarter promised stretch goals.

I would imagine that it would be someone that is recognisable but not exactly high profile. Maybe a voice form an advert or actor from a short film! - Remember they will not be giving them the full £1.2mill at least I hope not

Why aren’t we allowed to express our concern?

I have to agree with something which has been mentioned in another thread. When I recognize a familiar voice, e.g. of a Hollywood star, I automatically associate it with a role I remember him/her for which would distract from the role he’s playing in the game. For example, Arnold S. would dub a bandit and I had to do a quest where I have to bring this bandit to justice. So, I would think: “Ok, let me get to da choppa and bash the terminator.” It would take me out of the game. Also, if it’s only one ‘star actor’, it draws too much attention to just that single person in a ‘sticking out like a sore thumb’-kind of way. Wouldn’t much help immersion either, I think.

Sorry, I don’t want to bash and I also don’t like it when it seems the only thing people do on the internet is bashing but as of yet I’m not convinced how it’s going to work.

Maybe because of the tight budget the money could be used elsewhere?

Agree with this. I honestly think that the final stretch goal is a bit beyond achievable even if we do make the money. I would rather see a few very talented voice actors and if their faces make it into the game then all the better for them they are bound to be cheaper than Brian Blessed’s and John Hurt’s and less likely to break the immersion of the game.

Guys, guys, guys (and girls if there are any  ) First of all, they will not put 1.2 M to one actor if we will hit this goal. They will put 0.2 M to find good actors (plural) and get good deal with them.
2. We still can get to this goal after KS campaign. Dan told us many times that after KS campaign there will be possibility to back this project on its own site. So it will be like Star Citizen (hello fellow Citizens) which on KS got 2.3 M and now they are on 38 M (yes thirty eight not three point eight)
Of course you may, I would never presume to tell you otherwise. I simply don’t understand the lack of enthusiasm, and even more-so the negative comments towards this (with the one exception being the argument you pointed out below).
I apologise, this is indeed a valid point. For some, having a recognisable/distinct voice that you associate with other films or games could be an issue and perhaps even immersion breaking.

I cannot say that I encounter this problem myself, I tend to try and take each individual and his acting on it’s own merits within the scene that is being portrayed, but I can see how some people would not be able to look past the face or voice of certain people.
It could, but for what I might ask?

Multiplayer? I know that there are many here who would like that very much but MP development is not just a question of money, it also requires both time and staff to create it. This will either delay the release of the game further, though for how much longer depends on the quality of the MP component I suppose. Or alternatively these resources will have to be used during the time that could have been spent working further on the singleplayer. I do not particularly like either option to be honest.

More content for the single player? Again, this incurs more time spent in development and thus a delayed release of the game.

Horse Armour? (I am semi-joking here :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ) As the final goal for the Kickstarter campaign I think that having a stretch goal so insignificant would be a bit of an anti-climax don’t you? While perhaps this chosen stretch goal by Warhorse is divisive amongst the members of this forum, you cannot say that it is not at the very least ambitious.

So what else? I am certainly keen to hear suggestions, and there is already a topic created for just this discussion. Your stretch goal suggestions and discussion Keep in mind that a lot of the suggestions made in that thread are excellent but also likely to be time-consuming to create.
