Stretch goal suggestion

These are medieval times where (and when) titles had meaning and weight.
It would be nice if, by winning tournaments and minigames for example, we could gain titles that are report as text on the character’s register, used by NPCs and announced at gatherings/meetings in cutscenes, much like “Master of Archery, Grand Poet, Saver of a Maiden’s honor and Landlord of a Shack”… over time that list would get longer and the “level” of the titles would get higher.

Okay, now that I’ve written it, it doesn’t sound that much interesting. More a gimmick of some sort but I’ll just leave it here to be forgotten.

yea! that would be sick! every time i watch and read Game of Thrones i have to contain a boner when they read the long list of the lord’s titles. That would be really cool, and sort of Skyrim-y in a way because the game “time” continues as the character progresses through the game, so instead of guards looking at the dragonborn saying, “so its true, you are dragonborn.” they would say, “heard you won the archery tournament in (city/village/town/castle name here) well done!”

BTW ignore the boner comment… shouldn’t have wrote that.

This would also be a very fluid way of introducing local quests that need to be done wherever it is the NPC spoke too you, for example.

“heard you won the archery tournament at (input place) we’ve had a bandit problem in the nearby woods, we could use a man of such skill to help us, visit Sir (name) at the local garrison. The guards here are to few to protect the village, and Sir (name) has been searching for young men to help seek out the bandit encampment, and get rid of those scum for good.”

or

“heard you won the archery tournament at (input place). Too many of our young men are off fighting too help with hunting. If you could use that bow of yours to hunt some local game we would ever be in your debt, or if coin fancies your taste, the local mayor has some i hear…”

or

“heard you won the archery tournament at (input place). so your good with a bow than, yes? what am i saying, of course you are… hehe, umm. You see, i have a little feud with another local here and umm, yes, i was wondering if i could, perchance, purchase your services?”

kind of a cool idea, but teetering on the “pointless” side

This is a hyper-immersive, role playing, High-Gothic Period semi-simulator. So no, this is not pointless, it is world-building, world-building is paramount in a game like this.

kind of like achievements, but in your face

Three problems I see with that:

  1. the one side, the list could get so long that it passes the border of satire really fast
  2. the other side, if the story allows that many sensible titles at all
  3. on the practical side, making the list pieced together from different sound samples sound good

apart from that, why not - as a gimmick it might work

You should be on the DEVS team for real…
