Which sales figure will be considered success of warhorse studios regarding sales of KCD??? Maybe 1 or 2 million copies? Or more than that?
2 million would be great, but hopefully more than thatâŠi think the game will pick up steam and attention following launch.
I think developers said that one million copies must be sold to fund the development.
2 million will be a piece of cake!
On SteamDB ââ66 24 hour peakââ so itâs allready a bigger success then most Open World Survival/RPG MMOâs thats out these days
They raised 2.5M$ with 50.000 bakers so I think the game will be successful with way less than 1 million copies (maybe 500.000 will be enough).
I see full success and lots of medals for Vavra and the team.
For me it has nothing to say⊠many games are peaked by mainstream.
In these days children buying every 0815 title and every hyped game gets Fake poistiv meta and so on. âWe will see about thatâ like the G-Man would say
Donât forget to mention every DLC for minecraft.
Are you sure? I know this isnât accurate or how you should count it but 1000000 copys *50âŹ/Copy = âŹ50 Million. Ofc you need to remove taxes and other costs(maybe a share for Steam/GOG/Deep Silver) but I donât know how much that would be for Warhorse.
I thought including kickstarter money and the funds from the investor the costs would be around 10-15 Million. Selling 1 Million copies just to cover the costs seems a bit high to me. Correct me if Iâm wrong
You need to keep in mind that they plan Kingdome Come as a trilogy so their puplisher probably has a sales target for the first game. If they donât meet that target the puplisher could refuse to fund the sequels or something like that.
I just told you what I heard from developers video few years ago. I didnt make any calculations. Maybe youre right
to be fair in some countries one copy costs about the same as a single potato, so that equation does not apply
that was the original plan yes, now KCD will include Act1 and Act2
Act3 will be developed this/next year most likely
The 2.5 mil from backers is only a very small part of the entire budget. Most of it was paid by a private investor, this guy (use google translate)
Yes, I know it. Maybe my deduction wasnât very clear.
If they collect 2.5M with 50.000 backers, supposing that the game costed about 10-15M I think that selling 500.000 copies will be enough for the project to be successful.
If they will let us mod the game then yes, they will sell a lot. My guess on how many? At least 500000 copies after release. Why? Iâm sure there are plenty of people who want a new and good single player game. The last popular and good singleplayer rpg seems to be skyrim (7 years ago). Also I still think there are a lot of people who havenât heard about it yet.
I think kcd will sell well if it is polished and optimized well. And get good rating on metacriticâŠ
I think solid reviews from mainstream outlets will really help this game; it can sell well on its own, but the wider exposure it has, the better
Official word on break even is several hundred thousand copies, one hundred thousand copies were sold during kickstarter/website backing as per video interview for aktualne.cz the game has development cost of several hundred million Czech crowns so maybe 20 mil USD, but thats hard to say with so vague figures in Czech currency
I would say it is clear the game will pay for itself. I see it as maybe Witcher 2 for CD Project. Wish it is a launchpad for even bigger and better game from Warhorse
