Now, I know that multiplayer is a whole can of worms in itself, and a massive undertaking. But given that so many people are looking for worthy opponents once they have the best equipment, and the fact that NPCs that can challenge such players are few and far between - how about a simple, ranked, PVP 1 vs 1 league? Nothing complicated, maybe go to an arena location on the map and select an option to let another player join - nothing outside the arena needs to be synced between game clients, just a virtual ‘instance’ within the arena space.
In short, it would allow players who have already seen most of the game content to continue to enjoy and engage with the game while the team works on DLC content for future release…
