Suggestion: Menu and Inventory Screens

So in playing the Alpha, I quickly noticed a few issues with the menu and inventory systems that I wanted to mention. I didn’t place this under bugs, because it’s possible that some of these are planned for future releases.

  1. In the dialog screens with NPCs, it’s always nice to be able to use the keyboard or mouse for selection of topics, and I use the ESC key a lot when talking to NPCs to end a conversation early (especially if I’ve talked to them many times before and just need a key bit of information I missed). Don’t see that in the Alpha, but it’s early in development. Just thought I would mention it now.

  2. In the inventory screen, as we all know there will be an insane amount of clothing and other items to keep track of based on early videos and plans. This is going to be an amazing feature that sets this game apart, but I’m already wondering how we are going to manage it all. The current view only seems to be able to show a few items before you start scrolling in the UI. My guess is we all need to start suggesting some ideas now on how to manage all the equipment and items we may have to carry on our character in the game.

  3. This suggestion is related to number two above. My hope is that the team continues down their “realism” path and works out a good system to keep carried items down to a realistic level. Without naming names of other games that annoy me on this front, I’m not sure anyone can carry say 5 different weapons, 3-4 suits of armor and a bunch of other equipment for all the quests you’re currently working on. I know the developers mentioned that your characters horse will be playing a big role in this solution which is good, but I’m thinking we can all provide additional great ideas if we all think about what has annoyed us on other titles in the past.

Loving this game so far!
