Sword as weapon for the first quest ahistorical

No. Just NO! That is a complete myth! We’ve been over this in many threads on this forum since it’s began! Armour isn’t heavy at all, and if it is, it’s not right for you! It’s also called conditioning, you get used to the weight. I can do handstands, push-ups, whatever in my harness! You aren’t slow in it, and you don’t normally have a hauberk under it (Depends what plate you’re using and what period). And no it wasn’t designed for someone to fight solely on horseback, it was designed to keep you alive, full stop. There are countless depictions and records showing plated soldiers, and knights in full harness fighting on foot.

As for the sword. Swords were not costly, it’s like buying a new pair of shoes, you can buy an old used pair quite cheaply, or buy brand new, or even buy solid gold shoes. There isn’t a fixed price on a “sword”.
