Whenever I got to sharpen/clean my sword on the grindstone, my sword desires to bug out and flip forwards or backwards by itself making it dang near impossible to do it right. I thought this was because my strength was to low so I maxed it out, but no the sword still flips back and forth. When I finally find the sweet spot the sword flips foward and then I’m grinding against the edge or it will flip backwards and the I’m just grinding against the flat part of the blade. Please address this as it sadly takes me out of the wonderful immersion this game can provide.
Encouter the same “bug” from time to time, but maybe it’s related to the “Maintenance” skill. Maybe the more you’re skilled, the more you’re able to maintain grip firmly ?
Created an account just to report that this issue is happening to me too. I don’t know if it’s an intentional part of the minigame or if it’s a bug, but whichever it is it’s extremely frustrating. I don’t know for sure because my maintenance level is only 8, but I haven’t noticed a reduction in frequency yet as I rise in level.
I always thought it’s due to having low maintenance and is actually intended.

Its by design, so sharpening a sword isn’t too easy.
I always thought it was part of it also. Like you’re spinning the grindstone very fast, adding lots of pressure - woooooop it catches grip and the angle therefor changes on you.
I still have no problem getting my swords sharpened to 92-97%
If you take your time the last 5% then you will get it to 100% with lighter pressure on the grindstone.
