Swordbelts?

am I the only one who gets a little bit peeved at the lack of sword belts in the game? for a game that is leaning towards realism, and tried hard to be realistic in terms of weapons and armor, I find it slightly immersion breaking to see swords just stuck to the side of my guy and others, because of this, i would like to see the introduction of actual sword belts, i feel this would add another layer of realism and immersion to the game, and there is two different ways you could implement this.

  1. Just cosmetic sword belts, this is simply, if you have a weapon equip you have a sword belt on, when you take the weapon off, the belt goes.

  2. Make it an actual item you can buy, perhaps you start with a basic one, just some rope tied around your waist, but you can buy various version, some will increase charisma, some will increase your intimidation ect, they could have different styles, some will be flashy and while it will impress people it will make you more visible, some will be bark, making it easier to hide ect

I feel this would just be a nice little addition to the game in either format, would also be cool if they added visible daggers on your character if you have one in your inventory, have it sit either on the right side if wearing a sword, or the left side if using an axe or mace, just adds a little bit of more realism and immersion to the game.

Yup.
I was very surprised when I saw there weren’t any proper scabbards, just these floating-next-to-your-thigh weapons.

I asked that bout 2 years ago when i backed the game and played one of the first betas.
At that time there haven’t been any kind of sword shafts at all. back than they told that wasn’t possible at all.

As far as I see most of the swords have matching sword shafts and I am shure that they will add belts or at least some fixes that the rest of the swords will fit better on your Henry.

I am no history buff by any means, but I am pretty sure scabbards and sword belts existed well before the point in history that the game takes place, so i can’t see a problem with it really, I mean they had to have had a way of keeping their swords attached to their sides somehow, hopefully ts something they can quickly add it

Agree. Sword belts is a thing that they can not leave out, since they advertised they try to be as realistic as possible. Even worst to me is the lack of scabbards. Yes, there are a few (and they don’t fit the swords at the top very well), but a lot of idiots walking around with swords without a scabbard. Not realistic at all. I mean, just try it in real life and you will figure out that they would never do that.

Thank you for pointing out this grave mistake! Really!

Besides missing swordbelts/baldric/scabbard suspensions some edged weapons are missing their scabbards as well. Despite the fact that it was stated in the Torch that ALL weapons will have scabbards!

Here’s the list @warhorse

  • Butcher’s sword
  • Cleaver
  • Decorated hunting sword
  • Decorated sabrre
  • Executioner’s sword
  • Falchion
  • Hungarian sabre
  • Knight’s hunting sword
  • Master Huntsman’s sword
  • Nicopolis sabre
  • Noble hunting sword
  • Oriental blade
  • Rider’s sabre
  • Seax
  • ALL DAGGERS (Besiedes the horrible and utterly stupid design choice, that you don’t need to equip a dagger, sorry but not… this was a very, very bad choice [the gamescom 2016 version featured this even!])

Interesstingly there are Swordbelts/Baldrics/Scabbard Suspensions in the game

Sir Radzigs model has one and Sir Divishs and Sir Hanushs model as well, they are just not alligned and are missing on any other models as well.

Need to apply this to all other models and the PC.

Oh and to fix the discrepancy between cutscenes and ingame (there are scabbards in one scene and its gone in the next one and vice-versa. I am currently making a list of those discrepancies at least for the USM cutscenes as I have a huge workload atm)

I would put money on them being removed from the game as part of an optimization pass, but I would love to see them in the game as well!

I have an older PC and even I was getting a good 40-50 fps with my settings set to High with Ultra in a few places such as textures, at release and through v1.2.5.
