Terrible Console Performance

After 1.6, the texture pop-ins for Ps4 Pro at least are absolutely horrible and needs to be addressed.

Also on that topic:

Surely there is something that can be done to improve the draw distance & texture pop-ins for Ps4 Pro & Xbox One? I understand the game is CPU intensive, but I refuse to believe that there is nothing that can be done to improve at least the draw distance. Even on the Ps4 Pro it is extremely poor and kills immersion when I see flat terrain 50 feet away from me, and when I get near it, suddenly trees pop up out of nowhere and 20 bandits spawn from an invisible portal.

Was 1.05 a lot better for you regarding the pop in and textures? Just curious

yes it was

i don’t have the problem, or maybe i am just ok with it. the graphics look amazing and thats not even really the focus of the game.

PS4 1.6 is awful compared to 1.5 on Xbox. I will say the freezing is gone, but i really didn’t get bothered by a 2 second freeze once in a while compared to there being no trees or buildings within 100 feet of me, then bam they appear out of nowhere. Bridge in Rattay is almost always invisible until i step on it. Still overall performance is very smooth otherwise, maybe that is what they sacrificed to get that performance.

1.6 is definitely a step backwards on regular Xbox (new play through with 1.5). Pop-ins, General Texture\Objects are loading slower, getting minor lags when just running for an extended time. Some textures just look horrible in general now (see blood texture on sword below).

Ran great on 1.5, but feels like I’m halfway back to playing 1.43 again.

Pretty disappointing after 1.5’s great performance. It’s not stopping me from playing. He’ll I made it through the game the first time on 1.43.

I had 1.5 installed and had turned off auto-update because I was very happy with the graphical performance/appearance on this version and was wary of a future patch ruining the graphics as had happened in the past. This was on the PS4 Pro.

A couple of days ago I had to temporarily delete the KCD installation to make room to allow the system to update another game (needed 70GB free space!) I downloaded KCD again (ver 1.6) but after booting it my heart fell to see the graphics have regressed to such a poor state. i can’t play it like this it ruins my immersion with things popping into view in such close proximity and that is a huge factor in my enjoyment of the game. I’d rather wait until Warhorse (hopefully) fix it.

How do they keep managing to sabotage the graphics like this? Are they incompetent or just intentionally sacrificing fidelity for performance? It ran perfectly fine and looked far better on the previous patch on PS4 Pro.

The rain during Homecoming was ok. Seems we swapped pixelated rain for pixelated blood… some of the Talmberg inn textures (in rented room) seemed different. thought might not have paid attention before but perhaps it’s a 1.6 texture modification

To be honest I love Warhorse Studios for even attempting to create a game with the ambition of KCD. When it runs well (like in version 1.5) the game is incredible.

But for me immersion is a huge part of my enjoyment in a game like this and that has been significantly compromised by the graphical issues the latest patch has (re)introduced.

If I didn’t adore the game so much this kind of thing wouldn’t bother me. I’m just frustrated and feel helpless to do anything but wait until Warhorse fix the issues with a further patch.

Wholeheartedly agree.

It feels like graphics concerns for console users sometimes get short shrift around here as evidenced in part by Daniel’s persistent tweets about good/great performance with 123456697373785373gtx (obviously a bullshit version) but nothing about console performance … other than

I think that this game was ahead of it’s time. It uses to many Cpu intense Processes. The game even lags and stutters terribly on the xbox one X when you dare to run through a town or can even crash when you use a horse. The texture and object quality is also surprisingly bad for xbox one X.

Thing is not many would be able to do any better. Imagine if Bethesda took control of this game. It’d have better optimization but be like My First RPG. Am I rite?

If KCD were FO4-ified, we’d have mods by Christmas, a corrupt save file mechanism for over 1 yr, a chronic fps nosedive in the 2nd most built up area for yrs, fatal CE crashes throughout the lifetime of the product whenever you don’t well manage saves (and in-game assets), a mindnumbingly silly lack of save-exit functionality upon launch, more bugs than Henry has balls, big things dropping out of thin air as you approach an area, an abundance of mundane/tedious tasks, and occasional pop-ins that appear at 2-300m from user

Holy sugar… such a difference

This sounds like a nerd way of saying it does cool technical stuff at the cost of being user friendly

Update: did my first map wide travel in hardcore mode. The popins in Sasau were bad; never ever had such rendering lag in Sasau. It was as if some guy went crazy with CADD … I wasn’t even traveling fast. Canter or slower. Reported

@WH_janrucker @DrFusselpulli I can and am willing to drop hundreds on this game and its DLC (I’m dead serious), but it’s hard to justify if graphics performance doesn’t noticeably improve.

Ok i have to agree with you but now it’s to late the game is out and the graphics will not be fixed on this gen

If this is truly the case, Daniel and Tobi need to man up and say so.
