Territories and patrols

Hello

I know this game is based in a real location but i think it would be great if the two opposing forces had territories.
For example if you enter a certain territory on the map you will be treated as hostile and will be attacked by the guards because you are from another kingdom they also send patrols around forests (etc) and when you are in your kingdoms territory you are treated normally.

Also it would be cool if small 4 or 5 man patrols roamed the forests (just for territory protection and scouting)

I am not sure if this would be implemented into the game because i suppose it does depend on your games boundary but it would be cool.

Anyway this looks like a great game i wish you guys at warhorse all the best

How could they know, you are enemy, when you are ordinary blacksmith? It is bad idea for me. But it is my opinion

This would be so cool
but if they found you and you couldn’t get away
you wuld be in a very bad situation. But it would be awesome if they can add it!

yeah but i suppose over time tensions would grow higher and people walking around armored without proper insignia could cause an attack

would be a cool thing if guards reacted to you if you walked around in full body armor, but wouldnt lift an eye if you wore peasant or noble clothes.

Faction territories in a 3x3 km region around a single small village???

Ahem, no. That’s the opposite of realism.

Only possibility for something like that would be a concrete war situation (e.g. siege). But in this case it would be pretty impossible to walk around freely in the enemy territory (either the besieged castle/village or the camp of the attackers and the surrounding area)

Definitivament no, no m’agrada la idea!

Ehm, it’s all one land, one kingdom. So no faction’s territories.

yes but there will be 3 parts to this game maybe they could add a few things like an extension to the area?? (i guess that would rely on its success on whether or not they’ll go further than 9km2) i don’t know once again its just an idea  im just concerned that when i finish the story there would be nothing to do D:

The other two acts will feature new areas not directly connected to the area of the first part. But this areas could be hold by different landlords of course.

And I really don’t support the idea of an endless sandbox game here. You can play MMOs for that kind of stuff. Imo KCD should concentrate on the storytelling and immersion (much like the previous Witcher games but with a bigger, open world).

I feel that this should happen but you should only be treated hostile if you have committed enough or a big enough crime, also maybe something that would state you are the enemie

Do it like Morrowind, where everytime you go to Vivec (the largest city in the game, and main place for the temple, (religious group)). The ordinators (Guards for the temple) would always say stuff like “Go, now!”, “We’re watching you, scum”, “If you’re here for trouble, you’ll get more than you bargain for”, “Let’s not make this official outlander”.

Wouldn’t really want every one to simply be hostile to me, but very cautious about me since they don’t know my intentions. Like if you’re passing by a bandit camp, instead of just simply attacking you they will go up and say “Give us 200 gold, or die”.
Either don’t pay and kill them, or pay them and if you want you can stay in their camp. However they will be very suspicious of you and saying thing like “We’re watching you”, and if you draw your weapon they will draw theirs etc. And if you have stayed for to long they might go “You have to leave in the next 5 minutes or we will kick you out”, after 5 minutes they will turn hostile.

They should attack you or try to keep you out based on choices you make. So say you help one faction and then that turns the other faction hostile
But only if you’ve done enough to upset them. If you only do a little they could treat you with malice or contempt. Like they think your a right jerk but they wont openly attack you. But do enough and then they will try to kill you or run you out.

These are some good points, although maybe they could have a system where you wear your kings colors and so troops can identify you that way. Would certainly make large scale battles much easier to see who to fight as well.

Id love that. It Would open tons of gameplay options and the like.

That’s true. And also realism would be gone far away. There was no uniforms in these times and also nothing like “king’s colors”.

My apologies, i do not know much about the middle ages, only what i have ‘learned’ from games and movies.
Just wondering, how did each army distinguish allies from foes in battle if there was no uniform?
