Thank you for an immersive world

I’ll post here and move on, but felt the need swing by and say a simple thank you to the crew at Warhorse for bringing us a game that I didn’t realise I’d been missing until I downloaded it a few days after release day. You’ve created an immersive world that begs to be experienced, and a set of systems that are deep, interesting, and specifically regarding combat, fun to learn. It took a few restarts of the game to recalibrate my brain to a style of play I had forgotten, where considered action, the joy of taking it slow and soaking up the role play aspect of a game are to be savoured. No more running everywhere. Taking the time to talk to NPCs, hanging out an inn playing dice, enjoying a view, developing a character routine, dropping in on friends, associates and superiors. I love the fact that a grindstone is something I have to be able to use, that gear is something I now actually take time with to ensure that it offers the correct protection, but importantly, makes the right impression. I cannot wait to have Henry and Pebbles trot off to the scribe, so that Henry can learn to read, and I can begin to enjoy the reading materials and alchemy systems in the game. Your codex, by the by, is fantastic.

Before someone leaps in with “yes, but bugs!!!1!”, I understand the frustrations. However, as someone happy to pour hundreds of hours into a single title if it offers the depth, I’m happy to await the patches that will no doubt address any issues.

I honestly hope that there is more to the Kingdom Come universe in the future. This is a title for which I would gladly fork over money for DLC that took Henry on new adventures. I don’t know what the end game is, but I will have a warrior ready for further challenges in Bohemia.

So thank you. For the game, for making me stop watching “max level steal all the things best weapons monster gear” videos that seem to miss the point somewhat (IMO). I’ll craft my own wardrobe based on my personal tastes and Henry’s budget, and someday, come across the St. George’s sword. If you need me, I’ll be in the countryside with Pebbles, or earning some new welts and bruises from Bernard in the combat arena, loving every bloody second of my time in Bohemia.
