I just came here and made an account to give a massive thank you to all the hard working people at warhorse. You haven’t just made a great game, you haven’t just made a veritable work of art, you have made something that has saved gaming in its entirety for me. KCD is something truly special that so, so many of us have been needing - not wanting - needing, from the gaming industry for years. You guys had the balls to make the game that we all wanted, that big publishers were too cowardly to attempt. You showed them all how it should be done. So many of us are grateful that you stuck to your original ambitions, and didn’t listen to the casuals, the ignorants, and all those who would try to dumb your game down. You guys should be really proud of what you have done, I really hope that you can continue to stick to your core design principles in future, and not listen to the morons that are incapable of appreciating gaming art. Once again, thank you!
I am by no means a hardcore gamer. I have to squeeze my gaming time in between work, family care, household chores, and testing on some hobby projects. So I’m glad for every hour I can manage to play, even at cost of my sleep. And I often have to abort my play and get up at an instant to attend to other things. I win fights in The Witcher by spamming the Attack button.
So I guess you can lump me in with the casuals
But I love the game as it is envisioned. I love the realistic gameplay mechanics of hunger, fatigue, learning as you do, etc. Food that rots over time. Depth in the levelling system, quests that have many different ways I achieving your goals , complies and nuanced consequences. NPCs that don’t wait for you to turn up on urgent missions.
I could go on.
Casual gamer or not, I love this game so far. It makes me put in a real effort, think about what I do, and gets rid of all these annoying game features of older RPG and action games I mentioned above.
And it’s still enormously fun to play and discover.
I guess what I really meant to say is: I disagree with you that all people who play casually are whiners who expect games to be easy
You’re right, I’m generalising of course, annoyed by all of the youtubers and journalists that have failed to see this game for what it is, and are assessing it according to the criteria of casual games. The point of my post was really just to say thank you to these wonderful devs. If casual gamers can enjoy this game too then I think that’s fantastic.
you’re right warhorse did a great job!
thanks to the backers, too
I’m pretty sure that they wont “dumb down” the game they will 100% stick to their vision while developing the game further. That said, I think it would be good for some people to have save on exit, this save will get deleted, thats the plan of daniel vavra (confirmed on twitter) It wont make it possible to save before a fight e.g. and then reload if you fail.
I believe in Warhorse that they will do a great job. Just be a little more patient instead of constructing huge problems, warhorse will find solutions, I’m sure. I follow the company since early 2014 and all I’ve seen is that they truly love their game and that they sticked to their vision and delivered a fantastic gaming experience that they will keep working on.
This was a community effort this game. The devs did all this hard work - which we truly appreciate and love. However it couldn’t have been done without us backers. Really happy I pitched in.
God Bless these beautiful Czechs
I agree completely. I heard they are planning to dumb down lockpicking though . I hope there is no truth to this. If they started dumbing down the game wouldnt be unique anymore. We need a game like this.
Agreed, having a blast, thank you all!
Except you could just quit before said fight and reload the game and you now have a save before the fight.
not really since its not saved anymore
it would make no sense to quit and reload to the exact same place, the save is gone
They just need to make the lockpicking easier for console users. Those tiny hands and undeveloped motor skills make it hard for them you see. (JK)
