The Ability To Name Weapons

Has there been any discussion on the topic of being able to name a weapon ingame? I for one love to immerse myself into RPG’s and would love to be able to just equip a weapon that I named, any other gamers out there who would appreciate this small perk or know if it’s been confirmed?

Interesting idea. Don’t know if that’s included yet and it was not proposed before as far as I know. I wonder if I would give my swords female names and then saying stuff like “Shelly had a busy day.” or “My girlfriend Veronica is always by my side and she doesn’t like what you said and neither do I so be prepared for her sharp tongue”.

But seriously, I like that idea. I was also wondering if it’s possible do create engravings on swords you’re creating on your own.

Sure!
I’ll name my sword “bow”, then laugh at it, while watching it going down the hill in a spiral of identity crisis, becoming an alcoholic and involving in domestic abuse until it divorces, loses his scabbard and job, and gets some years hard time for attempted murder and drug use with intend to sell.
I would also like to write Coelho-quotes onto my arrows, for my enemies wishing to have a nice day!
And don’t get me started on the dagger… :]

i really like the idea of engraving swords, seeing as we can make our own swords a perk or skill for example could give us that ability, it doesn’t affect gameplay in a weird way like perks can potentially do yet has a really nice added feature

it’s a single player RPG, you can name stuff as you like.
none will stop or disagree with you.

since you wont be able to rename your character it may be a good Idea to be able to name your weapons
and since you can forge an improve it you may stick with the same sword for instance for a long time

doubtful naming of swords is going to happen because just think about it. you cannot record the dialog for all name variations. so the naming will exist solely as a couple of alphabets on your screen. hardly worth implementing since it has the same impact as if you just named it in your mind.

You’re not a good roleplayer:/ It certainly does not have the same effect.

a good role player would be able to make up for the difference in his mind.

not worth it

A good roleplayer would want to be able to name weapons in game. And what isn’t worth it? It isn’t hard to change weapon names. I doubt it would take any time at all for them.

How good are you in programming in Crytek engine?

how about post it notes?
Then you could tag your weapons:
“This is my Sword of Ogre Decapitation -
MEMO to self: only use on ogres
PS: research appearance and rarity of ogres at the next library
PPS: learn reading/writing if necessary <- probably done since I got here”

next issue: text marker - the librarian will thank you if you annotate rare books for casual use

Well you can just decede that this sword is called lets say dragon slayer, even tho ingame it says it’s just a bastard sword. you feel me?

Like in Oblivion? Yeah, I like this idea. Bring it on!
