This is extremely disappointing and pisses me off. Why encrypt the files of an openworld CRYENGINE game ffs?
Crysis made this engine popular and you know why? It gave modders absolute freedom!

Mate go and watch digital foundry and you’ll see pc shits all over console versions, the lead programmer said consoles are about medium settings with tweaks and FPS drops too btw, therefore all they havnt downgraded because of consoles, it’s literally proof it was done to optimise because he also said ultra is for tomorrow’s GPUs.
beta was a tech demo, a goal for them to aim for.
For what kind of tomorrow PCs? Ulta runs on 5 years old hardware with 60 FPS just fine. This game is a joke now and for potato Hardware. The visuals are PS2 at best. I didn’t even know someone could uglyfy the cryengine that much! Devs made this Statement yes, but it was about the original style, and not for this downgraded pile of crap. Here’s the quote:
“The PC version will not be changed for consoles, the console version will be done by a port from the PC version, not the other way around. If you have a really powerful pc, you will be able to use it as you should.”
Vávra also lost his reputation. He is the man behind the biggest downgrade of all time now. The biggest ever, period. He left Mafia2 because of downgrading plans? Well than, now he has his own company to left. This man was about to outrun Elon Musk, as he self claimed. But now he’ll be remembered as Daniel “The Downgrade” Vávra.
And in the end it’s WH that looses. - The loss of trust. I was with KCD from day one, as have been many people on PC. What did consoleros care about KCD in 2014? but next time WH comes to us ‘bagging’ for money. Well, we’ll remember the downgrade. This kind of fraud only works out once. This is not only me, at least 3 of my closer friends have been realy hyped on the forests. They won’t buy the game now.

This seems way off base to me. I didn’t play the beta, but even looking at the screenshots provided the game still looks absolutely incredible, and nothing that’s now missing would really affect my enjoyment of the game in any way.
Even my family (who aren’t gamers but see me playing all sorts of different games) have commented on how much better it looks compared to other games they’ve seen me playing so the devs are clearly doing something right.

Thats the right decission. I’ve done the same. Maybe I’ll get it again when the price has been downgraded to 10$. Untill than there are possibly good mods around to fix that crap look
People can complain with whatever but Nothing will change due to either contracting or for the great good? who knows but people have already tried making Texture mods at stuff on nexus mods so really if you just wait long enough this game will look Damned Amazing or you can learn the Console commands I like to change Fog when it rains or just when i feel like it suits me most
You can try r_VolumetricFog=1 That’s something we had enabled in Beta and found buggy on some GPUs so it’s disabled in the release. It really makes a difference in visual quality.

It really is!!! PS2 my arse!. This forum is so full of utter morons, making statements so stupid and insulting, its barely worth coming here any more. This game looks stunning on PC most of the time, even if the woodlands have been thinned-out since the BETA.
Its sad the lunatics have taken over this place… and it really is bad here for some reason. Worse than many other dev/game forums. Time to stop reading this crap I guess

No it’s not ridiculous.
Without these people/backers this game and team would not exist. And these were PC gamers, and the game was advertised as a PC only in the beginning.
