The Realism Is Nice But

A bad guy, in full plate, maintaining a full run as me while in just leather and linen?

What are your stats? If you’re a generic weak peasant… then HECK YES.

I’m going to assume the guy wasn’t wearing “full plate” because that barely exists in this game. My guess is he was wearing Mail (Maille) with plate or something like that on top.

I suggest you look into Hoplitodromos. It was one of the last sports added to the Ancient Olympics. As you likely know, many sports come from competitive training among soldiers. A lot of the events mirrored concepts or activities that were necessary for warfare. It’s no coincidence that the distances for sprint races (100m and 200m) are the same lengths of the deadly zone in warfare (50-80 for crossbows and bows and 50-150 for muskets). It takes about 50m to get up to full speed. You want to be at full speed when you enter the killing zone. So… 100m and 200m dashes are representative of what soldiers had to do when they wanted to close the distance to melee as quickly as humanly possible.

Which brings us to Hoplitodromos. That’s simply the same race, but wearing armor.

So yeah, if you were highly trained and physically gifted and wearing a proper suit of modular armor… there’s no reason that you couldn’t keep up in a foot face with a lowly peasant or barely-trained militia man.
