No, your wording and the context in which it was posted clearly implies a cultural significance to the U.S…
Your comment was in a direct response to @snejdarek saying Beer is culturally significant to his country and thus wouldn’t be so easy to ban (this all stemming from an never ending gun control debate between you and @TheDivineInfidel).
Then you said “guns are very much a cultural thing in the U.S.”, it would not have been logical for you to word it in this way if your intention was to say America has a strong gun culture which wouldn’t make to much sense given the context of the conversation.

Neither of us can speak on this matter we have not met him or conversed with him and can make zero judgments on his mental capacity to understand the implication of his words. (if you have met him my bad for assuming)
