Well they would be armed by the government in the event of an invasion . They’re a government run militia . Basically a home guard

I don’t actually see any issue with them training with airsoft weapons as they were practicing combat drills not there shooting skills .
You wouldn’t use blanks in real combat but you would in training .

Only if they would join the official army and follow the orders from higher up, including to surrender guns in case such order is given.

That defeats the purpose of militia. Swiss do it the best.

I agree, as long as they can change to real deal the moment it is needed, not the moment someone higher up decides for them whether they need it or not.
