Anyone here watching FEAR THE WALKING DEAD?
I see I wasn’t the only one watching Vinduška’s videos over the weekend.
I watched trailer… seemed like a another, almsot identical story to Walking dead (which I did not see to the end, I ended by 6th ep in last season)
But I hear that it is good.
I suspect that it will start getting worse pretty quickly.
the video looks badass
Well, the Walking dead jumped from “all OK” directly to the “post-apocalyptic”. This new series should run through the “falling down” period in LA suburbs, which makes it quite appealing.
So far it looks good, just the incompetence of the characters in dealing with any dangerous situation is pissing me off. But I guess that is what general population is like.
In my opinion the incompetence is there to create excitement and to to spice the story little bit.
But also this incompetance creates the story.
Inteligent, competent human being would create as less drama as possible which would not really fit a tv series.
Another thing is that in zombie apocalipse you would want to shield your body as much as possible and that would mean no revealing clothes for female characters and no shinig muscels for male characters.
I also find people in WD strangely little creative. When you have an slow enemy who acts in specific way there should be nothing easier to invent creative traps and ways how to kill them.
Well that was happening in couple of episodes. The little town where the black guy had all the traps and then just came to finish and burn the walkers. The psycho governor where they had the pits to catch the walkers.
yea the black guy was better in that regard.
But overall the people in WD relied too much in firearms.
Well there are a couple of valid reasons for that:
- they were mostly on move, all places where they spent extended period of times were quite soon overrun by walkers, i.e. there was no meaningful time for making standing traps
- once they remained in a place and cleared it out, the main danger came from living people, against whom living traps are ineffective (the upcoming season will most probably feature both of these issues at the same time)
- whatever danger comes your way, the best way how to deal with it is from distance. If someone wants to stab you, it’s safer to keep him away with a baseball bat (or anything that is effective and keeps them at arm’s length) than trying to fight him back with a knife
- the number of walkers in any given situation was typically much higher than that of living people. Firearms presented not only the safest, but also the fastest way how to deal with them
- again, the largest danger comes from living people. Bad living people tend to be armed. You don’t stop armed threat by singing cumba-ya
Maybe you are trying to translate your experience with living in the current Czech Republic on walking dead universe. I think that more appropriate would be parallel with today’s Syria. All who are unarmed are fucked. Those who rely on firearms are pretty much fucked too, but they at least have some chance.
Valid point
Though my point was that they used firearms almost always. Maybe except that time in prison.
Being it me* I would save the ammo for people or for really dangerous situations.
But, maybe I am not remembering it right.
Still…
Firearms are not the only long range weapons.
For example our favourite spears.
Another thing is that they did not invent any organized tactics. They just wandered around like on school trip.
*(in reality being it me, I’d be dead… #justpussythings)
We have the freedom to choose between the two words over here.
I hear more people use autumn, than fall though.
shit, though fancy, is still just a shit
TROLOLOLO
Probably safer now that all the people are zombies.
@ProkyBrambora @snejdarek if you haven’t read the walking dead comics, read them. They are a million times better. I stopped watching the show after season 3, it just turned into drama bullshit.
Well, I think that changed in the past two seasons. They were pretty coordinated before they got to Alexandria.
Also the moment they find Rick in the town shows quite coordinated effort, although I agree that it is less so later, but that is mostly to the fact that they are either in cars or within relatively safe places and don’t really work in group.
I am enjoying the show too much. I am afraid it would ruin it for me either due to quality or due to spoilers.
I read all R.E.Howards Conan novels many times over, so I have the same issue with Conan movies you have with the walking dead series.
Still, the new series is not based on the original comic, so you might enjoy it, even though it is much more drama bullshit than survival series (at least epizode 1 was)
I tried, i got bored pretty quick, epsecially after the art quality drop in the early stages of the comic.
its the same thing over and over, and its awesome. but i can see how you got bored.
