Well the smooth bore is good enough for the rest of the world, even Russia uses it.

Off road is the same exact speed for both tanks. 25 mph.

irrelevant , rifled is better for accuracy and long range

Smooth bore has a longer range and can fire sabot rounds which are the primary anti tank rounds now a days.

incorrect a challenger can do 40mph off road .

as for it being the fastest off road . just doubled checked online . it depends on the terrain .

According to the wiki its only 25 mph off road, same with the abrams.

Also modern tanks shells fired from the smooth bore have stabilizers, which means they don’t need rifled guns.

yes but its not as accurate at long range as rifled .

but alot is dependent on the round used by the tank .

then wiki is wrong a challenger can do 40 mph off road

It says its just as accurate due to the stabilizers.

"For very long projectiles like modern APFSDS rounds, spinning doesn’t stabilise them - it only works with short fat rounds like AP or HE. The two options available are either go smoothbore, or have a bearing between the projectile and the sabot - just going smoothbore is the easiest and best option. Also HEAT doesn’t like being spun"

From what i can find there are plenty of pros and cons to having a smooth bore vs rifled gun.

If the smooth bore really was that bad then, i doubt it would be widely used.

not when using HESH rounds  as i said depends on the rounds you plan on firing

[/quote] yes of course its like most things

Anyway i’m more worried about the kind of damage China can do through cyber attacks than anything. The U.S does nothing to counter them.

We worry so fucking much about old dudes in a cave with aks, that we’ve missed the big red threat to the east of us.

they’re not that much of a threat in reality . as we have seen over the last few weeks both nations are economically dependent on eachother .

when the Chinese economy slumped . the US/world economy also suffered . so neither can afford to do any real damage to each other . just give each other the odd jab here and there

Quote got fucked up I guess. I never even noticed it.

I know he said it.

This is gold.

Gun laws are no more liberal than in other countries but the country
is awash with illegal weapons smuggled into Germany, often from former
war zones in the Balkans, experts say.“As long as you can buy a
Kalashnikov on the street, things won’t change,” said Joachim
Streitberger, head of Forum Waffenrecht, an association representing
legal weapons owners.
