Even if he is an American it is not that much of a stretch of the imagination that he would rather live in Soviet Union then the U.S…

I don’t know if you have many Russian families where you live but I grew up with quite a few. The older generations speak very fondly of the old country and the old ways, not uncommon for their children and grandchildren to adopt this view.

Also there is a huge amount of stigma around Russia and Russians in the U.S., Russians and Germans are the top people used to portray political enemies in pop culture.

Yeah, Russia has a hard time embracing the terrible things their country committed in the past. They still celebrate Stalin as a hero over there.

There is a big difference in loving Russia, and loving the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was worse than Nazi Germany in many ways. Having pride in the Soviet Union is no better than having pride in the things Hitler did.

Just because you perceive the implication as being intentional does not mean it was, that’s just your perception. This does not make your perception wrong however when someone tells you this was not the intention you must take it at face value trust they are being honest (unless your driving a point to death to troll the shit out of someone :wink: ).

I perceived the implication as intentional myself, but in jest to troll you I certainly don’t believe he thinks you to be a racist (before he even declared it himself).

If more then one person has a perception of you (you have implied that this has been done to you allot especially by “left wingers”) it is time to have a long talk deep within yourself and ask, What is it I do that makes people perceive me in a way I know I truly am not?

Everywhere in American culture anything involving Russia or Russians carries a negative connotation.

Because people cannot get over the past. People hate on America but the shit that’s fucked here is because of the government (government fell apart because we let it but that is aside the point) the same with Russia and any other country we blame the people not the government.

Wouldn’t say I disagree, the logic for many for supporting such organizations is the thought of secular country united under a great force and capable of great feats (the negative ones being ignored).

Purchase permit costs about 20 USD (700 CZK). The problem is that it is only may issue, so you may have tough luck in some districts. Then you can only shoot it at ranges that need special certification for “A” cat weapons, which are not that plentiful. And when you shoot it, you cannot allow anyone else to have some fun too (with semi-autos, there is no such restriction). Also, no CCing (otherwise you can take a fully loaded semi-auto AR15 into backpack for self defense, as long as it is concealed). But thankfully no FOPA pre-1986 restrictions, so you can buy a brand new military grade full auto.

Also, if you have tough luck with civilian license, you can get professional license. That is a lot more complicated, but it is a way around the possible “may issue” stonewalling (as many commented on the picture shared on the FB page I posted above).

Oh, and the “may issue” is subject to appeal. Then subject to court action, which is winnable, but I am yet to hear about anyone taking it that far. I guess that guys who are serious about it consider it faster and cheaper to get the professional license.

Of course, all nations have skeletons in their closet. But some nations have a darker past than others.

60+ million wiped out just under Stalin alone. They had concentration camps in Siberia where hundreds of thousands died. In school everyone learns about the holocaust, but for some reason we rarely learn about the horrible things committed in the USSR and communist China, Cambodia, Vietnam ect.

My comment had more to do with the ignorance displayed by my generation. The fact that he would portray the Soviet Union in a positive light, means he’s never learned about its history, and that is dangerous.

It’s hard to be pessimistic when i realize who will be running things in the future. This country is already going down a very bad road.
