I agree with core of the message, however, given the conditions in the nowadays Australia’s concentration camps, I’d turn away from that event just because of what this person represents.
In case of Syrians, of whom there are multiple millions in countries around Syria, which are dirt poor and can’t sustain these levels of refugees (imagine 40 millions Germans coming to UK due to a war with Soviet empire in 1985 - that is about the ratio currently in Jordan), this message of “having already been in safe country” simply doesn’t cut it. Also, it took 4 years of warfare and destitude in the refugee camps for these people to get up and continue. You are not safe if you are facing a prospect of starvati
on in immediate future (i.e. these people spent most of their money in past years and are deciding between burning it on living where they are and end up with null or getting to Europe and end up with null - but only in one place they know they won’t starve with null).
That being said, we can’t help everyone. And if we can’t help everyone, we need to help those that are in jeoperdy the most. That means atheists and homosexuals (both directly destined for death in Quran), jews and christians first. It is not about racism, it is about helping where it is needed the most.
