I don’t know many Irish, but none of the few can speak the language, only attest to “having had classes on it in school”.

I.e. it is not really a real language now, more of a living history class.

Well this country had like zero school shootings, then right after 1999 then started happening more and more frequently. It’s quite odd.

I didn’t literally mean zero but the last 15 years or so have seen a massive increase in them. I’m sure they still happened but not even close to the level they happen now.

Looks interesting. Many people do not realize just how bad the situation is in Mexico with the cartels. They literally run half the country.

It doesn’t help that the U.S governments “war on drugs” has greatly helped the Cartels do business here.

While these do not all pertain to gun violence there has been a huge focus on bullying and school Violence in U.S. media since the early 90’s.

Not so funny story I had a friend in 2nd grade (7-8 years old) who showed me a steak knife on the way to the bus stop. It scared me so I told my brothers about it, we then (after struggling over it) got his back pack and found his entire bag void of school supplies and loaded with dozens of kitchen knifes of all sizes he was only missing a cleaver.

When we asked him about why he brought them he simply said “for protection”. A few years later he was the victim of homicide that remains a cold case.

School Shootings in the US 1990’s

I count 44 in the 90’s 52 in the 2000’s so not much of an increase.

After the 210’s though it increases more.

The reason i thought that is due to them being more lethal from 1999-2010. The deadliest school shootings in U.S history happened in that time frame. Can’t say for sure but i think the media has gotten progressively more anti gun, so they make it seem like rise in the popularity of Ar-15s are linked to an increase of shootings.

The media has paid more attention to it . And yes become more anti-gun .

Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen though.

However in many ways I feel the media attention fuels more mass killings because potential shooters see other do it and think that’s cool or whatever and then they can sometimes be encouraged to do it themselves

Looks like the French are busy. We are just sending a couple dozen SF soldiers to the areas of active fighting in Mali as well, can’t wait for their videos.
