no , you dont understand . what im saying

the L98 A2 which cadets have and use is semi-auto and the change leaver removed so they’re stuck on semi-auto it fires a 5.56mm round its the standard british rifle modified

it is NOT manually operated

you cannot own one of them however.
they’re only allowed to be used within the cadets and under that controlled environment

maybe you require a video as proof ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WV_a4E8rvA8

and infact i believe the cadets now have the L86 LSW’s which are fully automatic which they are allowed to fire . so yes most teenagers here have experience with guns

indeed they’re

or a bunch of 13 year olds for you as further proof that you’re allowed to have hands on with a lot more in the uk than you actually think if you get into the right organisations and clubs

so maybe you should take a bit more time before calling someone a fool before you fully understand their point  that you are indeed allowed to fire near enough anything you want in the UK just restriction on what you can personally own

there are 1700 posts in this thread, care to point me to it?

You’ll have to dig through it but @TheDivineInfidel has posted it twice. Its full of crap and if you do a little bit of research you’ll find most that comes out of that comedians mouth is horse shit.

You said earlier that children should never touch a gun. I would like to see a 13 year old shooter have a shooting competition with one of those 13 year cadets. I bet we both know who would win

I understand a shot like this would be a very impressive shot even from a military sniper. Imagine how good of a shot this kid will be when he grows up.

So i pity the Russian invasion of the U.S

What are his key mistakes?

  1. He claims the largest shooting was in Australia. When in fact it was in Norway.

  2. He claims if you own a gun you’re 80% more likely to kill yourself than protect yourself. If this were true then places with the most guns would have the most suicides. But in fact South Korea has the highest suicide rate in the world and guns are banned there.

  3. He says your children will pick up the gun and use it. This rarely happens despite what the media likes to say.

  4. He says if someone breaks into your house you wont have time to get your gun. Depends completely on your house lay out and a ton of other things. Safes are not designed to be opened slowly.

  5. He says you don’t use guns for protection. Hmm better not tell the 500,000-2.5 million people who use guns to stop violent crimes in the U.S each year.

  6. He says teachers shouldn’t be armed. Well i have a compromise. Since Columbine school shooting in 1990 my state has a cop at every school who is armed. We haven’t had a school shooting since unless you count a suicide that happened at a school.

  7. He says people who brake into your home just want your T.V. This is when he loses all credibility in my eyes. You can’t just assume they won’t hurt you or your family after stealing from you. Fun fact most home invasions in the U.S happen when people are gone. In the U.K most home invasions happen when the people are home. A criminal probably wont want to brake into a house that could have a gun owner in it.

  8. He says we like guns. Yes most of us do. They’re a fun tool to use. Weather its for hunting or target shooting guns are fun. How ever the main reason i would own a gun would be for peace of mind and protection. Fun comes after that.

  9. He claims Australia is much safer after their total gun ban. Sure they had no more massacres, but home invasions, rape and assaults rose after the gun ban.

  10. He was right that most Americans apposed an ar-15 ban. How ever hes wrong to call it an assault rifle. An ar-15 is semi automatic and if semi auto makes something an assault rifle than i guess most guns are assault rifles. Most assault rifles are automatic.

If my government really wanted to crack down on murders than why not go after handguns? 90% of gun crime is committed with them. If you ask me they want our semi autos so we can’t oppose them. But im sure you’ll just call me a crazy conspiracy theorist.
They can have our guns when they pry them from our cold dead hands.

That is indeed a mistake but he probably didn’t know about it. It’s rather minor though and does not relate to his points in any other way.

He was addressing an American audience not a Korean one. Comparing states inside the US does show that higher gun ownership states generally have higher suicide rates. Though whether this correlation equals causation I do not know, perhaps it’s something more sinister.

I suppose that’s a good point but you should also ask yourself how many of those crimes would not be committed in the first place if they didn’t have guns, a point he also raises.

Not having schools shootings in the first place seem preferable, but I suppose it’s a good compromise.

And where I live most home “invasions” (really now) also happen when people are gone but we probably have even fewer guns than the UK.

In my eyes assault rifle is a rifle with a 15+ bullet magazine. I am not sure about the US army but my cousin said he virtually only used his rifle as semi-automatic in Afghanistan.

Sounds like a good idea but it wouldn’t sit well with the concealed carry folks.

I believe it’s primarily fun, I don’t blame you for it nor do I oppose gun ownership in the US, but the fact that many of your countrymen deny it bothers some people.

That peace of mind and protection is your definition of fun. I am no a psychologist but I think this has something to do with a power fantasy. Again this is alright, everybody wants to do their thing and for some that means packing a load of guns. But you probably want proof for this theory of mine

I think you just gave it yourself.

He was pulling bullshit stats out of his ass. If someone wants to kill themselves they will do it weather they have a gun or not. Im almost positive Washington has the highest suicide rate and they’re a pretty liberal state.

You mean if the law abiding citizens didn’t have guns? Most of these violent crimes stopped are rapes, robberies and assaults. The criminal usually doesn’t have a gun in these cases. 95% of these cases are also non lethal. The armed citizen holds their attacker at gun point till police arrive. If you ban guns then all these people instantly become victims.

Yes most military assault weapons can switch between semi and auto. The ar-15 is made as a semi auto. 30 round mags were banned in my state after the aurora shooting. So by your definition the ar-15 is not an assault rifle.

The issue is not legal guns its illegal guns. Over 90% of the gun murders in the U.S happen with illegally obtained weapons and are committed by gang bangers. Our government is not doing anything about the gang fights in Chicago or Detroit (where guns are banned).

I go shooting maybe once a year if im lucky. So there goes your theory about me owning it for fun and power out the window. There is a fire arm in my house but it collects dust in a case and i rarely take it out of its case. Shooting is expensive and time consuming and you have to go to a range to do it. I understand you live in a country where self defence is a strange concept so i wouldn’t expect you to understand. Europe has a history of relying on authority and it got a lot of people killed. In the U.S how ever we are taught that the government cannot always be there for you and you should rely on yourself for protection first and the police second.
I think if i ever had to move to a European country i would move to the Czech Republic. It seems they have a better grip on reality when it comes to self defence than most countries in Europe do.

I have tried but noone wants to talk about kittens, glitter, unicorns, or even rainbows.

Just noticed this snarky little comment. Home invasion is a term used by law enforcement to describe the unlawful entering of someones home. So if you have a problem with the term take it up with them not me.

Good shot now ask him to do the same thing on a moving target which is also a human bet he wouldn’t fire .

Also now add a very angry attack helicopter to the mix and let’s see how well he has hidden himself . Then add about 20 special forces into the situation and let’s see how well he does .

Why not let the two groups of kids have a full on fire fight and I bet you the cadets would win as they are drilled in military engagements normally by staff who also serve in the army and pretty much all are very good shots .

As to the age , I somewhat disagree still that a 13 year old is allowed on the range . As normally the rifle is bigger than them . But these shoots are done on military bases and the supervision is pretty good .

For me
It’s more if the kid can control the gun rather than just age so I wouldn’t put an age on when you can shoot one . But certainly not below 13

So did I . Pretty standard in fact I don’t think I have ever seen a soldier either British or any other allied force you their rifle in anything other than semi .

The support gunner is the normally the only one firing off in auto as his role is to suppress

We have the full rights to self defence in any way I deem reasonable .

We have a lower murder rate than you so I don’t know where you get the idea it gets lots of people killed

I don’t think any military snipers have shot people at that range while they were moving and or shooting. That is extreme range and the people being shot at wouldn’t know it until they heard a shot and one of them dropped dead.

Do these cadets shoot at moving targets that shoot back? Looked to me like they were shooting dummies or paper targets.

Yes and kids here who shoot are under the supervision of people who have been shooting their entire lives.

Well me and my siblings and pretty much all of my family has never had an incident with a gun and we all shot around 5.

The have the ability to go full auto though. You can’t just flip something on an ar-15 to make it go full auto.

Yet your government deny s you weapons to defend yourself. Apparently only the rich and royalty have to right to have fire arms for self defence in your country. If I’m being stripped of my right to own a gun i only ask that the politicians and millionaires give up their armed guards.

Europe is actually a pretty dangerous place to live. In the last century alone there were 3 holocausts, 2 world wars, 3 murderous dictators and close to 300 million dead from these events. Not to mention now you have Russia knocking on your back door. That’s where i get the idea of lots of people killed.

And you cannot deny that people in Europe rely on their governments way more than with the U.S. You and @Dushin seem to get this idea that police will save you from being attacked. There isn’t anything police can do if someone breaks into your house with murderous intent. The only thing they can do is clean up afterwards. Its one of the many flaws of Socialism. Relying too much on governments doesn’t work and many people have learned that the hard way.

What are cadets?

Here with shooting sports, it is usually air rifle 4-12, flobert cartridge 13-15, .22 cartridge 15+, larger cartridges 15+ (up to the kid once they master .22).

Of course the kids can shoot whatever they want, the above refers what kind of gun they typically own.

It seems that Czechs fancy their full auto a bit more (even though those are mostly the car mounted canons that I hear here).

You may have the right and with your alleged training you may be even able.

Most people in UK are unable, denied the possibility of effective defense by government banning guns.

And when their kids are being raped by a criminal gang, they come to police to report it, police do nothing, the parents can pretty much just hang themselves.

Worry not good citizens of England there’s cameras everywhere so people can helplessly watch when you get your throat slit on the street.
