The save system needs no re-work!

As the title states, the save system as it currently is, is simply fantastic. You have the option of going into a bathhouse , you can sleep in a bed or you can buy/make your own saviour schnapps.

I honestly don’t get it why people whine so much, there is no need for a save on exit as you can easily use saviour schnapps for that. I don’t get why Dark Souls is praised as hard and all, you can save on a bonfire an as stated if you quit the game it does an auto save, but you’re still at the same spot and will have to kill all the mobs again and again, without quick saving the game before a challenging decision/fight.

While in KCD you’re presented with 3 different ways of (4 if you count the auto saves at the start/end of quests) to save your game and progress. I get that people hate dealing with the consequences of their actions in games, like failing an assassination/pick-pocketing/selecting the wrong answer in a conversation/etc, but then don’t play a fucking game that revolves around your choices and actions.

Also for people saying oh well, I just had 10 minutes to play and no time to go sleep in a bed or do the bathhouse, well then when you know you have 10 minutes better log in and brew a few potions so the next time you can do a quest for 10 minutess and have a potion to save the game.

A bit of SPOILERS to follow down bellow:

As a complete newbie on my first playthrough, I did not learn to read prior to the Merhojed events, so I told brother Nicodemus to find the cure, well as it turns out the bastard found the wrong cure and I kind of finished off 90% of Merhojed’s population. I was devastated but I kept going with it, what was I to do an uneducated former blacksmith, now a master swordsman. (when I found out you can actually cure them, I did not load, as it would be stupid to do so, we must all bear the consequences of our actions/decisions). Now on my second playthrough I know that there is a way to cure them and this makes this game and others like it AMAZING! The fact that you can complete a task ina few different ways with different outcomes…

So please either don’t play games like KCD or don’t complain once you start playing them!

I and the same, if you spend time brewing then the perks will allow you to make save potions with ease and you will basically have a save and exit

Save on exit is fine because there may be some unexpected circumstance that requires someone to leave or shut down suddenly and they don’t have any Saviour Schnapps left and don’t have the time to make some or go find a bed.

Otherwise, I really have no issue with the save design as it is.

Some people just need to have that “perfect” playthrough.

I like the save system. Understanding the need for an exit save. If someone save scums with them loading times shutting down. The application the deserve their scummy perfect play.

But to be fair to some people complaining…with the sheer amount of broken quests and bugs. Some people are feeling the serious brunt of a tough save system…

Save system is not tough. It doesn’t make the game tough or hard or special or elitist. It just makes everything you do a royal PITA.

I agree no changes. If u run out of savior schnapps than you should have been watching to make sure u don’t. I don’t run out. I make sure I always have what I need cuz sometimes I have to leave at a moment’s notice. Stop making excuses. That’s all it is. Oh I have a baby oh I have kids. Well fuck people. Brew the damn potions and if u didn’t than it’s your own damn fault.

I agree, I also have a 3 year old, a wife and two dogs who need walks. I always make sure to have at least 1 saviour schnapps in me.

first, it’s an example of how to design a game around possible save-scumming of choices and consequences even in presence of unrestricted saving, since it takes a while for the results to manifest, and even if you technically fail it barely affects your playthrough. second, if there’s a potentially dangerous task ahead (like clearing a cuman camp or attempting a hard pickpocket), you’ll save with schnapps anyway. so having unrestricted saving is really just a convenience feature and a sign of respect to the players. save restrictions are fake hardcoreness.

Whatever anyone thinks about the save system or what it should or should not be, “save on exit” is happening and the rest of it stays the same. It’s fine like that. There’s no real point in trying to tell people they’re doing it wrong if they don’t save the way you think they should. Let it go.

I agree, this save system is very good, anyway you can’t spam F5, F5, F5 to quicksave. Now you have to think before act…
And you can make saving potions very easily - specially if you have the auto-brewing perk.

Ageed. Though I wish they’d remove the auto brew option.
