I don’t know what sort of dark witchcraft is at play here but I know its’s weird.
And I also came apon this man. I am now convinced that sir Hanush is a witch

before patch 1.7 you could find guards in Rattay with HEAPS of weapons on them. There used to be two chests in the guard towers on either side of town where all their weapons were stored and individual guards would sometimes take 1k+ Page’s Swords or such. The chests are still there but there is way less in them now.
I kill all enemies in Pribislavitz and I get regularly numbers like this. I got 23 knights swords off of one and then 1.8K arrows off another. The first time I did it several months ago, I was getting even more. I got something like 49 swords off of one guy and 2K arrows off of two people for a total of 4K arrows.

I was very happy to get large numbers of weapons. Made lots of money.
When NPCs do things that are (effectively) humanly impossible and that you cannot do likewise… pure design porn (per Viktor).
Since KCD intends to be realistic, Henry and the NPCs shouldn’t be able to carry more than a quiver full of arrows… at least in HC.
I’ve seen NPC pick up items on the ground. Unless NPCs are making weapon switches (have no evidence WH is so nuanced), the only point to NPCs hoovering things is to declutter the environment. If the scale of decluttering is so large that NPCs end up with an armory’s worth of inventory, there are problems of asset mgmt in KCD
I think you misinterpreted him there. The whole speech was more about cheating to make player feel better.
Yes, he mentioned lies and cheats as the design porn but you would have to dismiss the context of the video and his point.
How does those NPC carring too much stuff makes player feel good or that he is somehow exceptional?
It was more about NPC popusefully missing the player first time they shot or not attacking you if you are not looking at them.
No, encumbrance is a real world thing and an actual game mechanic. Henry is impacted by it. So is his horse. No reason why Henry should be afflicted but not NPCs. For an NPC to battle effectively against Henry with 27 longswords in its inventory whilst Henry struggles with far less is bat shit crazy. It’s a cheat whether you want to recognize or not.
Viktor leads off with the snowboarding example. Later he talks about the game knowing where you are even though it acts like it doesn’t. He also explicitly talks about where the NPC/game can do things you/player cannot. That’s not out of context. Henry can’t battle effectively with an armory worth of gear in his inventory. And now thankfully, Henry can’t get on his horse when overloaded. NPCs meanwhile …
I agree with all your points there. I never put that much thought into it.
