It could just be changed to light gray or something similar so it blend better in the surroundings when you are not focussing on it.
Maybe make it so it only appears when it touches a usable object?

I hope they have made the hud elements customizable. I do not like huds at all. Would like the star and the yellow dot when walking as a choice on off switch.Compas aswell all i want is vitalities stamina and such. But surely they made the hud customizable. 
Having a menu option to customize colors would be wonderful. Especially for those with color blind issues.

The Dot idea is great! But I would prefer a tiny geryish one instead of this… The current is just too obtrusive. They should decrease it’s size by 30-50%.
There are many games which did this dot-thing very good, for example:
-Dying Light. You can see it without any problems, but it won’t “block” your view.
-Escape from Tarkov. They made the dot disappear when there’s nothing in range. For me it’s sometimes a little bit annoying when you’re walking next to a few things (It will blink somehow). But it’s still a discreet way of showing the player where he’s looking at.
I don’t know…I don’t mind it, but I play a lot of video games and get used to cursor and HUDS…it’s not that distracting…I’ve seen a lot worse
I almost wish I hadn’t seen this topic… Since being made aware of how there it is, I can’t un-notice the dot!

The issue particularly stands out in the latest pre-final gameplay video. All has improved - combat AI, dynamics, facial animations - the game is simply looking amazing. In sharp contrast to that there is this gaping yellow dot that steals all players’ attention. It was irritating enough to watch the video; I can’t imagine how crazy it will be to be playing the game with it.

The dot does not bother me. but I do see why people would be bothered . and having cleared the game once I would probably then like another colour option / a fade perhaps. either way i think it would be a good Idea for the devs to consider this a little more if not for day one patch maybe after.
