I had no major quest bugs before 1.3 either.
You just said you had freezing. I wasnt talking about major quest bugs alone, i was talking about major bugs in general. Which includes the game freezing and/or crashing. Also many of the game freezes are releated to specific quests so they could be considered major quest glitches. This is the reason that many have had to go back to before they started certain quest to tempurarily stop their games from freezing.
"NikelDime;; alright; but you are writing from some hurt point of view now⊠making out like issues are not being represented well enough, and trying to convince people who are patient and happy with the way the studio is rolling out solutionsâŠ
you kind of make it seem like solutions are too little too late (the game has been out less than a month).
if you were mature enough to have played launch role playing games before you would know this is par for the course.
also beta testing large scale open world games is harder than it soundsâŠ
also a three platform launch can be tricky.
This thread, identifiying a large part of why this game is getting so flamed, is fair⊠changing its direction to make it a rant and an educate others and demand they see your âvictimâ viewpoint⊠isnât such a friendly way to behave.
not sure what you are aiming to achieve?
punishing developers, coming to their site, and ranting at the people here⊠(will that make the game better for you, when, evidently the devs are working nonstop and have identified their solutions and which patches will contain them⊠they are transparent and are owning the issues. generally the attitude needed by succesful businesses.)
maybe reflect on the thread topics for the threads you write in, this being your own thread, sure do what you want⊠but if it were a product being sold to me Iwould claim âbait and switchâ. (we arenât in kansas anymore⊠.we arenât talking about save system anymoe)
You are partly correct i was fairly mad when making the post so part of the purpose of the post was to voice my anger and frustration, but a large part of it was also to voice a general frustration towards a developer that many are just letting off the hook and saying âoh well it will be fixed eventuallyâ.
It is true they are fixing issues which is a good thing, and i am not saying to little to late, but what i am saying is that just because you fix something that you let be released broken, doesnt mean you can just ignore the fact that you released something that was broken and caused frustration amongst your customers. Other companies like bioware have had entire sudios shut down for releasing a broken product. This should not so easily be forgotten.
People keep wanting to say, âlook it is being fixedâ but this is the exact reason we keep getting games released that very clearly needed to be held back a bit longer. And yes i know it is difficult to test open world games, however it shouldnt be to hard to at the very least test the main quest line and fix issues like the game not allowing you to save.
This is not to mention that this game doesnt actually have that large of a world. Many other developers have made far larger games with far fewer major issues on launch day. Just because a game is an open world game does not excuse it from having game breaking issues on release.
This post is more so meant to be a reminder to the company that they could have done better, and that they should not make these same mistakes again.
I have played many RPGs, new and old. However many of the older ones did at the very least have the decency to ensure their main quest line didnt include game breaking bugs in them. If you were mature enough you would also remember that developers didnt used to have the luxury of updating games after the fact like they do now, so they actually did proper testing. Many older games that were just as big as this one released with far fewer issues because they properly tested it before release to ensure a minimum amount of bugs, and to at least not have game breaking bugs on day one.
I enjoy the game, but i am going to call it out on its screw ups. Games that you enjoy deserve harsh criticism for their issues in order to try and make them better in the future. If you ignore the issues now, they will just continue to grow for future games, but if you call them out now and force the developers to face them now and understand that they wont be ignored, then they will remember to not make the same mistakes twice.
Blubber, cry, whimper I canât spend 2 grochen to stay at an inn, they should change the whole thing to suite my absent mind!
Boo who, someone pointed out a valid issue with a game i like, and rather than aknowledge that there are clearly issues that ahould have been fixed way before release, i will instead just try and be little any that point this out. wimper i cant be bothered to try and make any kind of argument or logical discussion, so i will just name call instead, because that has always worked.
Losing progress because you died is one thing, losing progress because developers couldnt be bothered to do proper testing and fixing the game before release is another. Developers that release their game with major game breaking bugs deserve to be criticized, in this way they will hopefully learn from their mistakes for the future.
Agree with OP, the current saving system is actually pretty good, but tying it up with unexpected crashing, frequent bugs AND limited save slots makes it frustrating. Doesnât mean the solution is changing the whole system though, but as they work through polishing their game more the save system will get more opportunities to shine through.
Should probably make schnapps harder to make too once these problems are solved. The simplicity of making schnapps betrays itâs intended difficulty.
Agreed, this game may eventually become worth of this type of save system, but it is not in its current state. If you are goin to make a save system like this then you need to be even more rigorous with your testing before release, because this type of save system is dependent on not losing progress due to game issues.
if/when all the major bugs are fixed this game will feel like a completely different game, one that is worthy of an interesting save system like this one. I also agree that they should be more difficult to make, at least make the process a bit longer and more complicated. But for now it is good to try and counter act the large number of issues this game has.
respectfully, this has nothing to do with intelligence. Some things just cannot be adequately tested internally, especially for a game this size. Thatâs true of AAA titles too.
I get that not all bugs would be fixed, but the number of them that the game released with and that are currently in the game is unacceptable. It is more than obvious that the game should have been held back for a few months in order to fix many of these issues, many of which they knew about before release seeing as they had not one but two massive patches almost day one.
I agree 100% - the problem is the stability of the game is at odds with the hard-core saving mechanic. If saves were reliable and the game never crashed, it would be fine.
When the player is constantly worrying about losing progress, the system isnât working right.
Not trying to be difficult, but sometimes holding a game back isnât an option, especially when itâs being released on three platforms. I agree that stability bugs are frustrating. But sometimes you are better off releasing and iterating than waiting. Iâm probably also more forgiving because this is a new studio doing something different and I really want them to succeed.
Oh yes, I agree with this part. I find the save mechanic generally frustrating. I guess they were trying to prevent people from reloading every time they were unhappy with the outcome of a decision?
I get that this is a new studio, which is oartly why people havent been leaving the game in mass (that and it is an interesting and new idea). However it isnt like they are incapable of looking at other companies and seeing how much trouble they get when they release games that are this buggy. Calling them out on their mistakes is also very important in order to ensure that they dont make the same mistakes twice. Forgiveness is fine, but you shouldnt forget and you shouldnt allow then to forget either.
Yes, and I think as far as rogue-like actions go ⊠the system works very well! It forces the player to be very cautious when stealing/lockpicking/stealth killing.
I can see that, but it is actually kind of to easy to make a ton of the saving drinks. I think last night i made like 27 of them, because even without the perk it seems you get extras for making them almost perfectly.
Although due to how many issues the game currently has i wouls say it is good that they are easy to make.
Also at the very least it does make you think twice before doing illegal things in the game. However i do wish the reputation system wasnt so annoyingly finicky. Like if no one sees me break in and steal stuff and i go to a completely different town to sell the stuff, no one should know that i did it. It should be entirely possible to be a well liked member of society will still stealing and killing, so long as you are careful. I mean we have that in real life, so why not in a game.
I think this save system is fantastic even revolutionary, I can only speak from my own experience but in most games today you pause and save whenever you want woo great though it isnât as in my adventure in skyrim I spent more time saving my game then playing my game warhorse have fixed that!
As i said i too very much like the idea of this save system. But it is a system that doesnt work well when a game is released generally broken. If the game was released with a minimal amount of bugs, and at least didnt have many major bugs that stop your progression, force you to go back to old saves, or crash/freeze then the save system would be fantastic. Unfortunately this was not the case. I am sure one day the many bugs will be mostly fixed and then this game will be worthy of such a save system, but until that day comes having this save system remains a mistake for this developer.
Essentially if they knew they were going to be releasig such a buggy game, then they should have saved this save system to come out later, when the time was right. Or at least add in the option for a more traditional save system to be uaed while all the kinks are worked out.
