This game looks amazing

I just watched the tech demo of the player walking through the forest. Truly mesmorizing.

As new as this direction is, One memory this game triggers in me however is Ultima Online.

While I get Warhorse Studios is shooting for their own unique experience (much appreciated), I cant help but feel that this platform theyve created could be the true successor to an Ultima Online type experience. No classes. No Skill trees. Just complete freedom. The only thing I see different is the separation of the fantasy aspect (magic, monsters, lore) and the 7x skill cap.

Hopefully one day they open up this game, like arma, to allow for mods because I would give ALL my money to be able to play something like UO in this gorgeous environment Warhorse amazingly created.

Cant wait though for the final product. Keep up the great work!

One day is pretty close. It was confirmed several times that they will support mods.
So after release all modders can happily work their magic!

Maybe not on release day, but pretty soon after release.

This is amazing news! Wonder if players will be able to host their own custom servers?

This isn’t going to be an MMO, it’s a single-player story-driven game. IIRC the multiplayer component that’s been planned is going to be an online tourney/arena sort of thing.

ahh interesting. i heard MP potential but hadnt realized it was so narrowly scoped. This game would sell massively if they opened it as a sandbox MMO

Little is known about the modding part yet I think. In ideal scenario, I’d personally like to get some object (buliding) and world creator, I wouldn’t even mind buying it as an DLC or something…

I agree, first Arma was perfect for modding, almost as much as were Flashpoint with Resistance. Anyone else here also liked the dark atmosphere of Namalsk? :slightly_smiling: Even without the warfare part, it was a brilliant world itself…

Namalsk was so dark and gritty! that sound effect is still embedded in my brain

Namalsk was great, I still use that on Arma 3 to this day  I sincerely hope that the modding community gets as large as arma’s, although the base game is amazing already, the modding potential is huge, hopefully this game attracts a lot of warband traffic, although they’re pretty different in concept, you still have the same freedom in this to do whatever you want, I know i’m going to put my modding skills to good use

couldnt agree more, but without networking capabilities built in for server support, this game will fall short in terms of modding like arma. Arma’s mods are so amazing because you can experience them together in real time with other people…part of the reason why Namalsk was so atmospheric. the danger of other players. the creepy land. the fun in the risk. really wish WH would add open world sandbox multiplayer to this.

well, Skyrims mod support haven´t suffered much from its singleplayer only experience, so I guess KCD will be just fine.

I really don´t think its that simple  “hey Vic, could you please add sandbox multiplayer to our game?”
“Sure, is next week ok?” :PP

Oh I never said it would be easy. Networking is often the most challenging part of any game. However I do think it would be worth the investment 10 fold.

I don’t get it that why every game these days needs to have somekind multiplayer? When i play game with good story and nice locations, i’m happy without other players running around and yelling “noob” in chat all the time. When i want multiplayer i play games that are made that for and vice versa. Mix of them i avoid like plague…cause usually both aspects have suffered in progress. Well just my opinion

I agree wholehearthedly! (if thats actual word) xD

There is nothing wrong with single player games at all. Skyrim was amazing! However, its undeniable that this game, given its granular sandbox composition and amazing graphics, doesn’t have a ton of potential to bring back the great age of MMORPGs. If you never played UO in 1997 then you simply wouldn’t understand, and thats okay.

Let’s say it like this. Neither every Singleplayer-Game “needs” an Multiplayer nor each Multiplayer-Game “needs” an Singleplayer, but it “can” be an nice Addition if it’s done right. Like, as example, it is really fun to play Assassins Creed Unity together “co-op” or simple to explore the World, unlike the other “pvp” Multiplayers before, which kinda was boring and lacking in Quality!

I miss Neverwinter Nights 2’s persistent world capability. Some AMAZING experiences on servers like Legacy: Dark Age of Britain. A couple of the servers are still around, but it’s just not the same. Doesn’t help Gamespy was taken down so you have to direct-connect on them. :stuck_out_tongue:
