This texture problem is literally making me go crazy!

since the first patch you guys released, ive been having 2 VERY specific textures having issues loading. it doesnt matter what graphical settings i use, customized or presets, nvidia control panel settings, or even validating my files on steam, this keeps happening and im going nuts over it!!!

what in the holy mother of dragons is causing this SPECIFIC texture to not load in full detail unless i literally come to a stop RIGHT next to it, and stare at it for about 20 seconds, and then if i walk 20 feet away, it UNLOADS THE DAMN TEXTURE!!!

i took 2 screenshots while standing perfectly still so that you can CLEARLY see the difference in quality.

and again, its only 2 SPECIFIC textures that has this problem! both are textures used on dirt surfaces!

open both images in seperate windows, and alt tab between them if you can see the difference clearly.

is this a known issue? becuaes i have literally 0 issues with other games. even final fantasy 15 with the insanely huge high resolution texture DLC doesnt have this issue!!

here is the other specific texture thats having the same issue. i circled it in red becuase this texture loads faster than the other one, and couldnt get there fast enough to stand next to it and wait for it to load the full res.

however, note the difference in distance from the texture in these 2 images. i can literally walk back and forth and watch it load and unload this ONE specific texture that also seems to ignore all anistropic filtering CFG settings and nvidia control panel settings!

at this point, its not even the eyesore thats keeping me awake at night.

I NEED to know WHY this is happening, and WHAT is causing it! if ANYONE could find these 2 textures in the game, and take screenshots for me to show that its not happening to them, and also share what videocard your using, i would GREATLY appreciate it. im losing sleep over this, and want the nightmares to go away.

here is the specific spot where i took the last 2 images. its the east end of Rattay

JEEZUS CHRIST BE PRAISED!!!

I’m astounded the graphics are working so well in your game OP.

I’ve had to downgrade from Ultra settings since WH indicated this resolution isn’t supported by this AAA game. So I’ve basically given up after 1.4 failed to fix the insane degree of pop out and NPCs who fall/bounce from hovering above the ground. Especially the NPC texture pop out like apparating/disapparating hats and clothing like trousers etc.

So best of luck in getting your texture glitch issue resolved.

Ah, I actually noticed the first graphics issue just last night. I had the same issue. I’d zoomed out to take a picture with Ansel, which is how I noticed it was the one piece of the road that wasn’t loaded in high resolution.

I’m running 2 graphics cards, one for graphics and one dedicated to PhysX. NVidia GTX 960 (4gb, SSC) and 750 Ti (2gb), respectively.

Graphics settings are customized in a range from Ultra to High, to give me the best fps stability for visual quality. But textures, terrain, and model quality are all set to Ultra.

yeah I know I’m on console and I can’t play because of the stuttering thing it just keeps happening and this guy is bitching about f****** blur’s literally have replayed this game 4 times and when I reach mid-game various Mission side quest doesn’t matter what I do I run into this stutter s*** and the game becomes unplayable because the stuttering starts out slow and then it progresses to where it just never goes away it’s locked in and you move your camera you look right and every time you do any of that you have vibration if you look left your camera will toggle back and forth left and right left and right left and right left and right left and right and it will not stay focused doesn’t take a genius to realize that you can’t shoot you can’t walk you can’t hunt you can’t fight you can’t even f****** walk straight

I read downloaded the whole game but at this point I’m going to trash everything I’ve had enough this is my last f****** Resort I hope they release and deal with this stutter issue I don’t know how many times this is a very big f****** deal I don’t mean to s*** on this guy but you have people out there that paid $60 for a f****** game and they can’t play it end of story like I don’t get to even have the chance to judge and whip out my wine glass and say “there’s a blur over there oh my God how unsightly”

There’s a thread for that.

this is why you should buy a pc. if the game fucks up, you can fix it yourself and not have to be shit outta luck. if it doesnt run well, you can tweak settings or adjust your own system. id be LIVID if i was in your position too. consoles used to be great becuase you bought the game and you KNEW it would at least work correctly enough to be able to complete the game. nowadays consoles just seem like a sub par pc. all of the irritation of a pc but none of the convenience. they really need to pass some sort of law that makes companies liable for releasing games on console with problems like your having :frowning:

i spent DAYS tweaking the game after the 1.3 patch fucked up my graphic settings. if you want my custom cfg settings, here they are. put this in the “user.cfg” file in your game directory.

it should be noted that im on a i7 6700k with a gtx 1080 thats overclocked, so i wouldnt use these settings unless you have a setup comparable or better, and im runnin at 1080p resolution with AA disabled.

also, the e_gi=1 doesnt seem to do anything, and i have to retype it in the console after starting the game. not sure if its actually making a difference, but i enable it anyway just incase i could miss out on eyecandy lol

if you dont already have one, just make a copy of the “system.cfg” file and erase everything in it, and paste the following:

r_TexturesStreamingMipBias=0
r_sharpening=1.5
e_TerrainDetailMaterialsViewDistZ=300
e_vegetationUseTerrainColorDistance=250
E_mergedmeshesviewdistratio=200
r_vsync=0
sys_PakStreamCache=1
sys_preload=1
e_VolumetricFog=1
e_UberlodDistanceRatio=4.0
e_LodFaceAreaTargetSize=0.0008
e_gi=1
e_ViewDistRatio=200
e_ViewDistRatioVegetation=200
R_SSReflections=3
R_ssdo=2

r_TexturesStreamPoolSize=8192
sys_budget_videomem=8192

Why should the customer have to do all this.
Just nonsense.

Does this reduce/eliminate texture pop outs?

Are you absolutely certain this doesn’t need to be on? You’re limiting your monitor lifespan by not turning this on ie via screen tear etc etc

Actually turning off Volumetric fog has significantly helped on my display.

Nice optimization list but highly subjective results.

i should have noted that although i have vsync disabled, there is a special setting in nvidia control panel that i think is exlcusive to owners of the 1000 series.

disable vsync in game, and in nvidia control panel select “fast” for the vsync setting

this lets the game go over your refresh rate, but drops the frames it doesnt need so that you get most of the visual benefits of having vsync, but none of the input lag.

holt_bathgate, e_vegetationUseTerrainColorDistance=250 improves the visuals of the grass in the distance, and e_TerrainDetailMaterialsViewDistZ=300 , i cant confirm that this setting is solely responsible for eliminating all the other texture pop in, but i can say definitivly that the only time i get any texture pop in is when running as fast as possible on horseback from one village to the next, and some characters take a few seconds to load in full detail, but once they have loaded they stay loaded.

other than the specific 2 texture problem ive been ranting about, i have 0 pop in issues. also got rid of the really annoying LOD pop in that used that awful looking dithering effect.

e_VolumetricFog=1 is a huge FPS drain, but it does vastly improve the visuals IMO (especially during sunrise and sunset). if it looks better to you off, turn it off and gain the frames, but im a huge slut for godrays and similar effects lol.

if im not mistaken, the stuttering is related to the new bug that has all the guards dropping polearms in cities, and everyone that used a broom is also dropping them, and they keep piling up in the town and they have physics enabled on the objects.

it starts to chug in rattay on mine, and i think thats the main cause. such a wierd bug.

Ever wonder why not many companies seem to use cryengine? have you seen star citizen lately?
crytek looks pretty, but now that unreal engine 4 has been around awhile, i cant think of any reason to choose crytek over it. but at the time they started developing this game, crytek was the most amazing engine on the block.

As I understand, the above plus some are falling underground. Weapons and shields of killed NPCs would also contribute to this (assuming you don’t steal/loot all of them)

fwiw, starting to grab clutter and reverse loot NPCs

I have the same exact issue on PS4. If anything what I experience is even worse.

yeah, screen tearing isnt going to affect the monitors lifespan. the only thing that could would be leaving it on constantly, and even then it doesnt reallly matter much unless your using a non lcd and have to worry about burn in.
