Three weapon slots

I really think there should be a mace/axe, sword and bow slot (and respective hot key) because: 1) a sword was a side arm; 2) a lot of enemies in the game can be bested with a sword, but there are those occasional groups that are well armored and since swords look the coolest you’re normally rolling around with one and can’t switch weapons once in combat it’d be nice if they had a third weapon slot.

Or change this for a primary (2H) / secondary (1H+ shield) weapon set up instead of the range/melee we have now.

One could bring longsword or polearm as primary and axe/mace or 1h sword as secondary, but no bow.

Another could bring a bow as primary and a 1H weapon as secondary.

Or a way to half sword or remove your pommel to throw it at the enemy to end him rightly

Serk, I was thinking that as an option too.

yes this got me thinking due to the fact that polearms, not swords should be the most common weapon type. i think their unwieldy nature just makes it difficult to implement right. i think being able to store and retrieve a polearm from the horse would present an ideal solution.

some mods already and switch the polearm into an equipable, the problem is, it makes it disappear from npcs too. that’s why i think it should still be a player held weapon and shouldn’t be “storable” in a sense on his body and must be dropped or stored at his horse instead

Although it would certainly be convenient to have every type of weapon at hand for every situation, it would also make you look like a clunky, walking armoury to have a sword at one side, an axe/mace at another, then have a shield on your back and also have a bow and an arrow aswell while also wearing full armour. Especially since the game is trying to be realistic to the times, as in people mastered one type of weapon to efficiently use in any situation rather than carry every weapon they could think of, I doubt we’ll be seeing this feature.

no you couldnt have had a shield and a two handed weapon realistically
it would be like polearm and shield
and a sword

Yeah, we need some drawbacks in our choices. You can’t have it all.

So you either take a shield or a 2H weapon for better attack power.

This is why I would also impose a malus in archery when carrying hvy armor too.

So a bowman would be forced to carry medium or light armor and a 1H melee weapon only as a secondary weapon.

I like how War of the Rose used to represent those different weapon built in a realistic manner.

Hoplites were from an earlier time but…

Understand but not sure allowing Henry to carry 800 in weight but not a single polearm when overall within Henry’s carrying weight is rational

Agree. Wish this entending to tech tree (perks, etc) as well.

Btw, anyone kill Runt with non-sword and then find cutscene to be distracting (since it shows Henry with a sword)?

1st play though I did mace/shield, no one stood a chance…regardless of what they were wearing for armor. Swords look kind of cool but I like the maces and the claw hammer personally, just wish there were some cooler shields is all.

Seriously though, most people have plate somewhere and a lot of people have helmets, at least the ones who are complete crap at fighting anyway…just get a mace as your main and you’ll be fine. My only problem is that I cannot clean it; people said to use a blacksmith kit but even after I do it is still bloody. Doesnt really effect me though, or not that I have noticed anyway.

And a throwing knife in the boot. 4th slot.

throwing knives would be cool, if there was evidence they had them, for the stealth character.

I’d be more interested in a bag of rocks to toss a few here or there to cause a distraction to get NPCs to stray from their current path

and sling on the belt

I also think it would be neat if you could cause a rift between the Cumans and the bandits in Pribyslavits by dressing as one and attacking the others and then escaping. That would be dope.

the dory was a onehanded spear…
if ur talking about the guys who used sarissas they hung their small shields at their sides

but the spear is typically a very versatile weapon that can be used both one handed and two handed

just about every culture in europe and the middle east had examples of people using spears and shields together cause it was just so good

dont even need to go that far back (hoplites)

@fang3412 The point was more along how KCD interprets the class of weapon as matter of factly two handed (eg spear). Other configurations are possible. It’s a nuance that would be fun to test (play) when and if WH get polearms figured out

ah im playing with a mod that makes spears a primary weapon so i probably forgot
thanks for the rminder tho
