So I’ve been playing the main quest and I had no break from “Keeping the Peace” until “Ginger in a Pickle” since it always seemed like I had to hurry. I had to meet Hans the next day early in the morning then I had to ride to Neuhof immediately. Now I’m at the point where you have to find Ginger. I just wanted to know, can I take a break and travel to Rattay to sell my stuff and do other things or do I need to hurry because Ginger could escape?
I would do the ginger quest, then you should have some time to explore
Yeah it’s just that I’m not sure when I have time and when not. Is the game that strict with time?
The side quest appear to be very lenient with time.
The main quests I’m not sure, because I’m still stuck on Questions & Answers and cannot progress,
I found the main quest to be not too strict
only when they really say you should be fast
I paused the mainquest at some points to do some sidequesting
For me, Ginger in a pickle is where I took a pause to explore the world. I, for the most part did everything in the quest, EXCEPT the final part, where you have to report to a specific NPC. I had no issues. Other than I couldn’t practice with Bernard as he was stations at Neuhof.
I guess if you go to Rattay sell your stuff and then go after him you’ll have no problems. But the only thing that worries me is that (MILD SPOILERS) there were two guys involved in the murders looking for him too (probably to kill him). But I don’t know if you take a long time doing other things they will find him before you do.
Spoilers:
What happened to me is that I found him on a cabin in the woods, after i killed the bandits that were after him, then he asked me to talk to Smil’s (God rest his soul) wife if she’d take him back to the stables. She did and now I have to travel back and let him know, but i’m taking my time in Rattay training, playing dice, seeing Teresa, among other things…
Tip: if you are encumbered you can take things from your inventory and put them in the saddles of your horse by pressing square on the ps4 (not holding, holding’ll trow the iten on the ground).
I do like 4-5 side quest before doing ginger in a pickle I didn’t even ask to the charcoal burner’s anything so I think you will have no problems
My experience is that you will miss out on small parts of the mission. For example, I had a mission to go meet up with soldiers and then ride to a camp…I missed my meet up, failed that quest and got updated to “meet them at the camp” or whatever. With Ginger, or someone in that quest, there are bandits looking for them…I would try to beat the bandits, I’m pretty sure bad things can happen to Ginger if you waste too much time
and as mentioned, side quests can be put off…I made Theresa wait to get in the sack with me, like any man with self respect lol, and I’ve also been putting of Cumin raids for Sir Robard.
I find when you switch to a new main overall goal…like Ginger is kind of stages, and starting Needle in a Haystack, if you leave you’d better be good at lock picking and not miss too many duties lest you be kicked out. Whenever things change up considerably is usually a safe spot to slow down, or so it seems. But I really don’t think too much can be missed out on, just mini pieces of how the whole overall story goes…and things will probably get more difficult/dangerous for you the longer you wait lol
and achievements, achievements can totally be missed out on
As things stand right now, just so people know, you can take a break:
-
right after training with Bernard the first time (you don’t have to go to the baliff)
-
After talking to the Baliff when he tells you to go meet Nightingale (you don’t have to go meet nightingale)
-
After you are told to meet Capon at Dawn to hunt (he’ll show up everyday at dawn in the same spot until you’re ready to go)
They won’t even give you trouble superficially (just dialogue)
Ginger in a Pickle, I’m not sure if it is timed. Ultimately, it doesn’t seem like a quest you can outright fail but small details might be able to change such as Ginger living or dying but even that may not change.
I done a whole bunch of side quests inbetween those two mission’s. They made a big deal of sticking to what you’re doing but really unless the NPC explicitly says be here this time, or to hurry or whatever then you’re pretty safe to have at least an in-game day break from that.
The only reason why I think Ginger may die is because there is an achievement for helping him live…however I’m pretty sure you have the option to kill him, cant remember, so maybe that’s why…WH just assumes everyone will kill him or something
I’m wondering about this too as I’m at exactly the same spot.
I’ve just collected that bloody stable tool from the dead bandit, spoken to the guy who hired Ginger, and now the Ginger In A Pickle Quest has appeared.
I really want to go and wander around the countryside for a few weeks! But I don’t want Ginger to die as a result of my tarrying.
Hmmm.
What do we reckon?
I would wait until you’re done with Ginger In A Pickle. Afterwards Captain Bernard returns to Rattay so you can train with him and the next quest is more of a detective mission and I didn’t rush to do it.
Best time to explore is after reaching rattay and before going to sir radzig.
Yes but for wolf in sheep clothes mission where you have to abduct there is a time limit and if your quest is bugged you will fail the mission.
I don’t think so. I mean you won’t have a horse and you have like zero experience in combat at that point.
