I found this really frustrating on PS4 as well. I saw someone post a tip and this really helped.
Set the controller down and use 2 fingers on each analog stick. I could not pick any locks until I did this.
Also, to get to skill 3 is helpful. Take the lockpick training and even if you have to break 40 picks to get there the perk that doubles durability greatly helps.
1 tip that will be really help full and make it a lot easier
when you lock pick the sweet point must be really close to the middle if its not cancel try again if still not keep on doing it till the sweet spot is near the middle.
also you have to do it quick, do it slow and it will break
and lock picking is harder on controller yes but keyboard and mouse is better for almost every other game like even first-person shooter games and MMOs keyboard and mouse is always easier to use for gaming if you’re used to it.
am on the ps4 and once you use these 2 tips and get used to it, it will be much easier I lock pick really easily with only 4 lockpicks that Fritz gave me in start of the game I almost picked the locks of all the easy and very easy chests in Skalitz while my lockpicking level was 1.
