Too attached to Pebbles

I went ahead and bought myself Trojan horse. Mediocre but a lot of trunk space for Pebbles smoked sausages.

Kept my sweet girl Pebbles all the way through the game. 250+ hours of companionship and service. Took me through to the end. Noble saddle w/ 4 saddle bags was all we needed.
If I ever get a real horse (50/50 chance), I think it will be named Pebbles.

How do you know Pebbles is a she? lol

And I don’t know who “Pebrus” is, the monkey from DBZ is called “Bubbles”.

How do you know Pebbles isn’t a she?

I found this thread because i’m missing pebbles and now i see i’m not the only one to be attached to that cute mount! I traded pebbles in for warhorse jenda but i was feeling really conflicted about it and before I left her I looked her in the eye and she gave me a 'what you’re leaving me??" look. now i have supposedly the best horse in the game and I just don’t love him like i loved pebbles. I’m thinking i’m going to have to go back an hour or so in game and get her back. Spend my groshen on the best gear for her instead. hold on pebbles, henry’s coming!

I got rid of pebbles before even getting her. I went and bought warhorse Jenna…now I just need that body armor to match the head armor…

@janetta:
Are you on PC? If so you could get the [pebbles is the best horse] mod and turn it into a T5 steed.

And the Witchers horse too!

Noble saddle and 4 saddle bags were all my sweet Pebbles and I needed to complete the MQ. Still trotting around Bohemia with her after many hundreds of hours of game play.

Can a player only have one horse at a time?
Might ask WHS why this would be a necessity, though I suspect transporting items to your horse might be the reason. Which horse to transport items to, when you have two?
I’ve parked a horse I stole in the barn of the Rattay Miller.
There appears to be no “fence” to sell it to.
I could see parking Pebbles in the Miller’s barn.
I’ve sort of grown attracted to her too.
What part of our psychology can explain us getting attached to an imaginary horse?
Or an imaginary woman…Theresa?

yup only one that will come when called.
I too really wish I could sell the horse found abandoned or left behind.

She’s just a medieval car to me. If you’re that attached somethings not right.

Haha love this:))

Great question. Attachment.
Ever go hiking, pick up a random piece of wood to use as a walking stick, then have a little difficulty letting it go after a few hours in the woods? Happens to me all the time…

It is the memories attached to the item(s). A physical representation of a emotional event.
The Object itself is of lesser importance than the memories and emotions it represents.

Thus disposing of the object in effect disposes the memory which can be a difficult thing to do.

Yes, thanks, I did look at that but it hasn’t been updated and I’m really keeping mods to a minimum as there’s quite a lot of updates coming through as this is a relatively new game.

I took a closer look at My Pebbles tonight.
I looked her in the eye, and realized her eyes are anatomically correct, and how lovely her mane is.
I don’t see me trading her in for another horse.
Just wish I could sell the extra two I now have.
Picked the second one up at the bandit camp just outside Rattay.
Both are at the Miller’s in Rattay.
Anyone want to buy a horse?
Both look like they were only ridden to church on Sundays.
Check with the Miller. I’m sure he would like to get them out of his barn, since I’M not feeding or cleaning up after them.

Roach is actually named after the practice of “roaching” a horse. Roaching a horse is cutting it’s mane. In KCD the horse named Roach has been roached. In Witcher none of Geralt’s horses have actually been roached. He does always name his horse roach though.

There have been many horses named Roach long before the Witcher was written let alone made into a game. It was a common practice back then. Especially for warhorses. People had names and assigned names to object and property based on it’s deeds or background. For example, “Henry of Skalitz,” “of Skalitz” is quite literally last name. If it wasn’t that then it would be “Henry the Blacksmith” but he never mastered the trade. His father was “the Blacksmith.” As a result a horse in the 1400s with a roached mane would often be called “roach.”

Not that it isn’t a witcher reference it definitly is. But, point is Roach has been a horses name since long before witcher and its a very real thing. In the books Geralt even mentions that some people think it’s strange he calls his horses roach when none of them are roached.

Also Epona is a blatant reference to the Legend of Zelda. She has the same coloration and markings as Epona does in Twighlight Princess. Even the shape of the white splotch on her face is identical. They even reference using the flute to call her in Twilight Princess when you offer to buy her.

I accidentally shot and killed Pebbles by shooting him in the back of the head while trying to go all Mongol on some Cumans.

Scrapping pebble for a better horse is usually my first big transaction in any play through. Way too many deaths because of this coward dumping me by the roadside when ambushed. Bucephalus for the win!

for PC: Turbo Pebbles and Roach for Victory! They match the best part of each T5 steed @ free and T2 price.
