First: Warhorse said maaaaybe the Oculus Rift will be supported… but rather not… which makes me kind of a sad panda.
About the VR market:
As I see it the biggest drawback of all those devices is the price. The price will decide if VR will be a thing in the future. Late last year the information was that Sony plans to sell their HMZ-T3W for about $2000 while the Oculus Rift will be between $300 and $500. Microsoft hasn’t declare it’s intention to take a slice of the cake yet, but they are doing research as well - that’s for sure.
If Sony and MS plan to run their devices in the same league as the OR, namely focused on gaming, they’ll have the advantage of being able to enforce their proprietary device on their respective following. The OR on the other hand already has an active home-brew scene and has the potential to be the device that is independent from the image source, but at the moment Software has to be adapted to be used with the OR.
My wild guess is that all depends on whether there will be a common VR interface in the future that is shared by Nvidia, AMD, Sony, Microsoft and the Oculus Rift.
