This is like from an absurd drama, unbelievable. The journalists are more concerned about the fact that illegal immigrants might be deported rather than about the fact there is actually a huge festival every year that is attended by so many illegal immigrants that it isn’t even worth holding without them. Surreal.

Been like this in the U.S for years, and they wonder why Trump got elected.
Well the day has come London has been attacked .
4x4 drove through crowds of people outside houses or parliament and a police officer was stabbed (highly likely he has been killed but not confirmed)
Police have killed two attackers it’s being reported . 4 shots were heard
Edit : just one attacker, 2 people dead
Werent there some other attacks in London before?

It’s now more clear .
He drove his car through the crowd on Westminster bridge (normally a very packed crowd going back and fourth ) before drive round to the side of parliament where he smashed the car into another few people .
He jumped out and charged towards the side entrance to parliament where he stabbed an unarmed officer .
The unarmed officers collegue turn and ran to alert armed police who were very quick to respond .
After killing the officer at the gate he ran further in where two armed officer challenged him screamed at him to stop before firing into him 4 times .
He was killed this is now confirmed .
I’m very surprised it seems the side gate was not manned by armed police. But as there response was a few seconds they were not far away

So it may well be that attacker died in hospital or on the way
Is there any possiblity there will be some serious public backlash against having unarmed police? I find the idea of a police officer runnig away from danger because he isn’t suficiently equiped to protect citizens nor even himself absolutely infuriating. That would be unacceptable in Czechia. Whats the point of paying the police, when they are gonna run away in case of danger.
Yeah, we are already getting reports in media that the attacker was an “asian”.
i wouldnt mock the officers decision at all in the situation maybe the phrase running away is slightly loose more of a turn and scream for assistance . but yes i have an issue as to why the officers on the gate were not armed . as they are on basically every other entrance but the entrance he went through is a very low key one normally where members of parliament enter to avoid the crowds at the front . if i had my way every officer would be armed .
its actually very shity timed attack . normally that bridge is completely rammed . pretty much every time ive crossed it im forced to basically walk in the road because the very wide pavement is completely full of people . so the fact only 8 people were hit on the bridge is …in many ways a fucking miracle
but none the less the police appear to have dealt with it in an excellent fashion
I’m not mocking the officers decision, it was probably the only possible one given the circumstances (i.e. not being armed). I’m mocking the idea of having unarmed cops in general. It’s just ridiculous.
edit: And I’m aslo mocking a society that is ok with it.
i agree , but people just seem to have this odd obsession with the police having to be unarmed here . i cant see whats so concerning about officers having a side arm .
this is now the main centre point of the discussion on todays event . its being defended with the lines that the entrance attacked is one where members of the public enter for tours so the police were purposely more low key here to avoid it appearing to be a cut off fortress and more open and inclusive of visitors .
which would tie into why the two armed officers who shot him were not in police uniform .
but again whats the issue with the two officers manning the gate having a concealed firearm ?

I’d say you need to be a unique kind of imbecile to go for a vehicular rampage in a metropolis and achieve only two casualties. This is what always puzzled me in all those vehicular attacks in France that preceded the Charlie Hebdo shooting.
i still stand by my previous statements that its entirely possible to disarm a knifemen without the use of firearms , as i said before its done in this country almost daily .
however on this occasion armed police were close by so why take the risk .
even if both officers were armed one would have still been stabbed as they were taken by surprise . so the results would have been the same but again i do support armed officers .
well he actually injured 20 but yes i agree. although people of course jump out of the way and a car travelling at enough speed to kill is isnt very agile . so its likely one of them things thats sounds alot easier than it is .
