never understood the point on term limits , if a leader is re-elected again and again then so be it , its the will of the people .

Because power corrupts, and the longer politicians stay in office, the more they stop representing the people, and start representing lobbyists and special interests groups.
Just look at the U.S congress, half those ass holes do fuck all, and just get rich off the job because they know they have unlimited terms. You have to make more of your time if it’s shorter.
Well last time we were in that situation, failure to surrender firearms carried death penalty.
Yet Germans were not particularly successful in confiscation.
Right now “losing” firearms is € 400 fine.
Anyway, it is all issue of societal attitude. In the early 90s Czech Republic was full of illegal guns and it was considered normal to have one - simply because banning them was communist thing and communism was baad. Police enforcement was also lacking.
Then the legal access to firearms became possible and easy, and over years illegal firearms ownership became considered less societably acceptable. Police enforcement also followed.
If anything, we will get back to 90s than anything else, especially with half of our border line being occupied by fresh new “Germans” and “Austrians” and EU pushing for us to accept “New Czechs”.

And what if they aren’t voted out, what if they have the media in their pockets? What if they cheat? Look at FDR, he was the longest severing U.S president and he created the whole mess of Judaical activism that we have today by packing the courts to get his legislation shoved through, something that would have been impossible in two terms.
Democracy needs a check to it also, 49% of people can vote for polices that harm the other 51% over and over, with term limits in place it forces them to vote for other people with different ideas.
The problem was that people hid them in their houses and dug them underground in the countryside in preparation for a large scale uprising. So they didn’t have them on hand when the Germans came for them (because death penalty). During 1940 Germans conducted large scale campaign against resistance, arresting/sending to camps/killing tens of thousands. So then most people who knew the place of the stashes disappeared.
Up to this day people now and then in the countryside dig out stashes of guns hidden from Germans while doing construction works.
Otherwise, we had one of the most successful resistance movements in Europe. We were the only country in Europe who’s head of state was killed for being active member of resistance.
Also, here the highest ranking German, the “Architect of Holocaust” and possible Hitler substitute was killed.

so successful that you failed . dont get me wrong extremely brave of the people that stood up to the germans, but like any country that falls early on in a major war cough france cough your nation likes to tell its self how brave and effective your resistance fighters were .
in realty without the allies you would have remained german for 1000 years . The key to winning is to be brave and effective before you lose the war rather than after .

Democracy is just mob rule. There has to be checks in place in order for it to function.

If a powerful person remains in office long enough, there is no guarantee he wont simply pass legislation to make it a defacto dictator ship. And i know you think that it’s impossible for it to happen but it’s not.
No argument there. But still, if you look around Europe, there was a number of occupied countries were resistance was non-existent.
And anyways, I didn’t bring it up as a topic of war, but of private firearms ownership and confiscations.
Of course the only private firearms ownership that may be effective on a war scale is the kind that the Swiss have. But some is better than none. As T.E.Lawerence said, all you need is 2% of resistance fighters and 98% of supportive passive population, and sooner or later the cost of fighting becomes too great for the occupant.

I think the problem is also routed in the fact that Germans seem to hate themselves and simply don’t care that their culture, and they them selves are being replaced. But then again, seems to be a western problem…
We would have been, if not for Poland and Hungary. But that is an argument we already had.
That is what constitutional law is for, to prevent simple majority to devolve into what you describe.
