Immigrants here used to speak English, even in their own homes. Majority of U.S whites are only third-fourth generation, yet hardly any can speak the languages of their ancestors home country. I wouldn’t have a problem with them speaking Spanish in their own homes, but they already have weak language skills, and their children are not encouraged to learn English.
This causes major issues in schools, and furthers the balkanization process of the U.S. My mom taught in many Latino majority schools, and majority of her time was spent teaching basic language skills, and trying to make sure the class understood her, rather then them actually learning things like math, science and writing. Then on top of that, they blame “white privilege” when they perform poorly on an academic level.
Wouldn’t matter if they turned on him. They have zero means of resisting him. Military and police will follow their orders because they have a family to think about.

as long as that minority has the weapons, absolutely nothing. It’s always a small minority armed well who carries out the wishes of the dictator, and keeps the rest of the unarmed populace in check.
10 million people being against the government wont mean shit, as long as said government has 1 million armed people willing to kill for him.

Do you honestly believe the majority of people supported like men Stalin or Mao? They feared them, because they knew any pushback on their part would mean them and their family getting a bullet to the back of the head.

you have a really shitty boss . you hate him but need your job so you do as he says (compare to evil dictator ) . you want a pay rise, but you know asking him on your own would likely cost you , your job . alone you are weak .
however if you and your entire team or the vast majority of it all demanded a payrise together or you will all go on strike . Suddenly your odds are better , he could in all reality just sack the lot of you (compare to just killing the entire mass protest ) however that would be an awful decision and leave him even worse off and likely cost more than simply giving in .
so in most cases the boss gives in and you get your payrise . simplistic example yes .
So picture this , in every major city across a country huge 1 million crowd protests are happening . no matter how fucked a guy is , at this point its only going a few ways .
option 1: dictator stands down after admitting he can no longer effectively control the country as the majority of it no longer does as he says
option 2 : protesters in their mass over throw the presidential palace and drag the dictator out and quite literally sling him out . this generally happens after figures in the government turn on the dictator and offer alternative leadership options (basically always happens ) . afterwards the new government is formed and a messy situation of sorting out the nation begins
option 3 dictator holds onto power , this generally leads to the army splitting in support like in Syria and a bloody civil war will follow , in this case gun laws are pointless as a "rebel " army will form and hand out weapons to recruits .
so in my opinion and it is only an opinion the only thing having guns does in the case of over throwing governments is speed up the process to a civil war.

You don’t have to kill every protester. You just shoot enough to the point where the crowd realises it’s simply not worth it. Or after said protest is over, they simple arrest the organisers and the ones identified go to a prison camp.

as for killing a few and the rest running , the same could happen if the protesters are armed . big difference in owning a gun and being willing to kill another person with it
name a mass protest put down completely in gunfire. small protests i grant you , easily put down by a few live rounds , but a committed mass crowd over over 100,000 no chance
