Do I understand it right that UK’s way for recovery of Brexit fall-out aims to be to use the trade embargo that EU, US, Canada, Japan, Australia… etc. etc. have with Russia and tap into Russian market?

The British government wishes to have good relations with Russia . Including trade . What other nations want is up to them .

I hope we build a good relationship with them . They could be very beneficial allies to have .

The Cold War is over let’s move on .

And what Brexit fallout would that be ?

It seems to me that the No.1 topic of Brexit was closing down borders to EU workers. Which means losing access to the EU free market.

And that, of course, will have economic impact.

The Cold War may be over, however occupation of parts of Moldova, Georgia and Ukraine aren’t.

It is interesting how stubborn you British are, refusing to learn from the lesson given by your last attempt at appeasement policy.

Well in a way he is right, Obama prematurely left Iraq (granted we should not have been there in the first place), left a bunch of our military equipment behind in un trained hands, destablized Lybia and armed rebels who went on to join ISIS, and is doing the same in Syria.

The Obama administration may not have created ISIS, but they certianlly created the conditions for it to be created. He has also sat on his hands while they have been pilliaging their way across the middle east the past three years.

If the threat of a Russian invasion was really as credible as you say, then you would think European countries would start building up their military. Aside from a few countries most of you guys are defenceless, and other countries shouldn’t have to pick up the tab for you.

Russia isn’t going to invade any NATO countries, for the same reason the Soviet Union didn’t, the world would end.

Off you go with your Article 50 before you start pushing this kind of laws on us the same as you have tried with gun control! @thedivineinfidel

I think we all know he chased the bloke down the street and kicked his head in  can’t do that I’m afraid .

Don’t worry about us passing such laws , worry about the Germans

@thedivineinfidel This map nicely shows one aspect of the Czechoslovak break-up that is missing in the case of Scotland.

I actually agree on both.
Especially Czech Republic could have easily maintained the 2% GDP commitment but for some reason fails at it since 2005. At least it seems it is getting back slowly and Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungaria and Poland even send their troops to Baltic states (quite a symbolic numbers for now though). I consider politics opinion on this when I go vote.
Though I think that this should not be the reason western countries should bail out completely.

As you said ā€œsame reason as Soviet Unionā€ meaning they would if they could. Little has changed in Russia and the idea it is a democratic state now is naive. Gulag museums are closed as western propaganda while Stalin’s center is fine (Imagine Hitler’s center opened in Berlin…).
A few I talk to about historic tried to peruse me that NKVD were true heroes as RAF not a Gastapo and Stalins has it’s flaws but was greatest leader not a mass murder as western propaganda claims… etc
Someone wrote here that Russians are the biggest victims of the Communism - the country then also suffer the heaviest Stockholm syndrome know ever - which is good reason to be disturb I think.

My GF teaches Czech to foreigners (and specialized English to Czechs) at a Prague university.

The first thing Russian students do when they enter the class at the beginning of semester is that they start protesting that Crimea is wrongly pictured as belonging to Ukraine on the world map that is on the wall.

And these are the students that intentionally leave their home country in order to study in a Western country. Imagine what those that chose to stay at home must be like.

(Anyone who decides to study in Czech language does not pay tuition fees, if a foreigner opts for doing the same program in English then it becomes quite expensive - which is why many choose to learn Czech and then to sign up for a program in Czech language)
