Trusted Reviews KCD article (not very positive)

What do you think about it? Is the author totally wrong, or has a few valid points?

It is a question of philosophy. It’s just not a game that pretends everything.
Personally, I think the author does not like being frustrated in the game. But that is exactly what can happen in KCD …
There will always be the two factions … the Questmarkers Hunters and those who are looking for the path themselves …

how can the author be totally wrong on something that is their own experience /opinion?

the game won’t be to everyones taste and so it shouldn’t be. in order for it to be it would need to be the blandest most banal no passion game ever made and devised purely from an office using market research and focus groups.

me personally i believe the game is going to capture the imagination of a lot of passionate people. warts and all. just have to let the chips fall where they may.

I don’t wanna be “blind” about the fact KCD has some things that must be improve, but I’m not agree with this guy just for two reasons:

  1. It seems he played in PSX or similar, he didn’t get enough time for explore more.
  2. Those comments make me think that someone could not learn how to play or didn’t have the right time.

I insist, there are some things to work on with KCD, but so far we don’t know the full version of the game…
So let’s keep waiting…

I dunno, I think he sounded pretty positive. I like the fact that he found the combat to be difficult.

I like the idea of combat being difficult, I just hope enemies will not get stuck and easily sniped. I hope the AI will be smart.

hmmm

He’s suggesting that aesthetically the game looks mediocre, the voice acting is inconsistent at best, and that the cut-scenes are somewhat disjointed and confused at times… I’d say those sentiments generally speaking paint a fairly negative picture or impression.

I for one was always pleased with the visual aspect of the game. Voice acting / dialogue and cut-scene animations have always been an issue. And combat polish / balance have from day one presented difficult challenges… just be interesting to see how different the final product is and whether or not any of this feedback is taken onboard (and remedied) prior to release.

I’m staying positive though, bring on Feb 13

From what I read of his article, I doubt he understands what KCD is and what Warhorse is trying to do.

Complaining that the death threath is real and it can over in seconds is what the studio said how it should work.

Sure the game could use improvements and tweaks, even after release. But that is for people to find out and provide feedback to Warhorse.
Instead of a guy who thinks he plays COD and just blindly runs towards any enemy he sees.

I’m not worried about the “tough” combat at all. I still remember watching my first Dark Souls videos and thinking the game is idiotically hard and only a total masochist can play it. Today DS1 is my favourite game of all times.

Although I have an ability limit too and a few bosses in Dark Souls 3 exceeded that. It’d be bad if the entire KCD is as tough as the Nameless King for example and I have noone to summon for help.

He sounds like your typical gaming journalist, who whine when a game is more difficult than the call of duty campaign on recruit difficulty.

Difficulty doesn’t scare me. I played Ninja Gaiden black and 2. They had the most complicated fast paced and often demoralizing combat maybe ever. And I loved it.

However, when it comes to realism in games, it’s not always a good thing. I played a very realistic military shooter a long time ago, can’t remember the name. But having to think about windage and bullet velocity and having to lie under a tree for extended (very extended) periods to maintain my ambush position were very realistic…and totally sucked. Probably why I can’t remember the game’s title.

Guess we’ll see where KCD falls.

The game isn’t going to win any awards for the way it looks

What the actual f–? Does the reviewer see the screenshots he posted with his article?

Which game is winning anything for the way it looks in his opinion then? Zelda?
Game looks so realistic for me, does reviewer hate real world then? “I went to real forest, it sucked, stones look low poly - 4/10 would not go outside again”

E:apparently, it IS zelda. This guy is into Mario, Zelda, South Park and other casual kiddie bullshit, calling them best games of 2017

The looks is 70% of why I bought KCD, I plan to just wander and enjoy the super realistic forests for most of my playthrough, listen to birds sing and enjoy modern graphics bringing realism to my screen.

I did forest wandering in Oblivion and can just gasp at how far we’ve come in what feels like not very long time

Pfff.
