Unable to run the Game using NVIDIA graphics card, can only use integrated

When I load the game, all I get is a black screen on start up.

I have a GeForce 940MX which I’m having the trouble with.

If I go into the NVIDIA Control panel > Manage 3D settings and change the preferred graphics processer to integrated, the game will actually load and I am able to play (awful experience)

I’ve got the most recent graphics drivers for the card, so I don’t think it’s that.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve got the game working fine on my desktop, but really would like it to work on my laptop too.

I’ve included dxDiag for other information about my machine that may be relevant.

This may sound odd but I’d go back to the January Nvidia driver. That driver was more stable for me across Windows 10 and games. Do a manual download, do a full uninstall of all the Nvidia stuff. Then do a custom install with clean install checked as you install it.

Id add, do be careful…
as ‘latest drivers’ by whose definition
Microsoft/Nvidia/laptops manufacturer homepage…

Wouldnt Jan drivers be missing optimisations for this game?

Anyone else had a black screen on startup issue?

You do fine in other games ? how many ram - what is your cpu?

I’ve included dxdiag which has all specs, but 16GB, i7.plays other games fine, its no graphics powerhouse, but handles many other games just fine

Set your Nvidia graphics card settings to default and hard reset your laptop and try again.

That’s not really an option, I have many other configuration settings for my other work that would be effected by a reset, it’s not just built for gaming. Shame.

I remember a similar issue when development in arma 3 was doing this.

Was a driver issue. The workaround Iirc was you had to go to your bios and disable the onboard. Which stopped it being selected.
