Using Bows

Please add some kind of reticule so you can actually know where you’re aiming, I’ve been trying to win the Archery Contest and so far have been lucky to hit the target 3 or more times with the 13 arrows you’re given as not only do you know where you’re actually aiming but your arms move so much that you just can’t line anything up before running out of stamina.
This really is ridiculous, virtually all games like this will give you an aim pointer & in the cases of those that don’t you get an aim button instead, in this you get neither so trying to hit anything that is more than a foot away from you is bordering on impossible, as if the lock picking, pick pocketing & the stupid manual save system with the overpriced Saviour Schnapps that if you don’t have or can’t afford any could cost you hours of gameplay wasn’t bad enough this really does make you think you spent over £50 on beta & quite frankly isn’t in any way near being finished or even tested enough to be put on sale for PS4/Xbox at all, should be entitled to a full refund until you fix the game…

Trust me you will get use to it, 80% of the people will come in here and tell you’re wrong. Unfortunately I’m part of them. I have no problem hitting enemies 100yars away. Sorry but I don’t want a a crosshair if some sort

Your aim will only move left to right and not vertically. If you’re struggling that much stick some blu-tac in the centre of your screen.

It does get a lot easier trust me, just sit at a range by yourself and you’ll see exactly where to release off your hand on the bow. I can now comfortably hit rabbits moving from about 30 yards.

Well my aim seems to be moving all over the place in a rough circular motion & is unbelievable difficult to centre so it ends up being guess work 90% & pure luck 10% of the time, it’s absolutely pathetic, I’ve played countless RPG’s on virtually every console ever made & this one is by far the worst when it comes to ranged weapons…

in console write “wh_pl_showfirecursor 1” without the " and you get aiming point

What because you’re not a master bowmen from the get go like in Skyrim? Phst get out.

“Ignorance” I’m not sure what you mean?
And “Zeltchoron” there’s no need to be rude, I’ve been playing games since the mid 70’s & not all games are as easy as Skyrim but none are as ridiculous as this, so kindly show some manors…

Henry has no proper training and has never picked up a bow before let alone use one

I had a thought about this while playing the other day and I think that the could add a perk to the bow skill tree that adds an arc kind of thing that extends as you draw back the bow and in case someone doesn’t quite get what I mean, think of the grenade arc skill in fallout 4

oh not sure if it works on console players or just us pc gamers, but if you open the console in the game usually its the key ½ next to 1, then type “wh_pl_showfirecursor 1” then you got the same dot you have when sword is drawn, just when you are using bow.

So are you saying that as you progress through the Archery skill level the ridiculous amount of sway reduces…?

Actually I have no idea. Can’t remember what it was like at first. But you learn to compensate

the sway remains but with cursor it is easy to win and hit things

The bow can be very powerful, once you get a yew long bow with better piecing arrows you will one shot most opponents. the aiming mechanic is very cool and it takes practice, I would suggest practicing chumps with the archer from Ledetchko to improve archery. That will boost your skill pretty vast which will improve your aim, also make sure you meet the stat requirements for the bow you are using.

”Jono56667” a perk would be good even if it was a crosshair that way those who don’t want it don’t have to use it.
“Ignorance” I don’t think you can do that on PS4 but thanks anyway…
“Zeltchoron” Thanks anyway, I’ll have to keep at it & hope the sway reduces with experience I guess…

they made mods with this also, but again i guess its pc and not consoles yet

Ken it does improve with use. Just like you would improve in real life with use and that’s the point of no reticle as on any recurve bow eventually you learn where and what to use as an aim system and the sway decreases

I did finally win the tournament with 30pts but it’s taken a good dozen attempts as trying to figure out exactly when to let loose the arrow is quite a kafuffle…

I think it’s important to point out that this is kind of a game in which you should take some time to learn how to play. And by that I mean actually learn - how to fight, how to aim, how to pickpocket, etc. I realized where to aim on my second attempt at using the training bow.

Here is a very good post about archery: https://www.reddit.com/r/kingdomcome/comments/7yjdrd/tips_tricks_for_archers_the_asshole_of_the/?st=jdtv40ez&sh=161df432

Just put some time into learning the mechanics and - with experience - it will become easier to do over time, like in real life. I started by learning how to lockpick and pickpocket and I have to say that lack of saves does increase tension when you sneak around places you aren’t supposed to be in, especially if you have some progress done already.

I have to say it’s refreshing to play a game like this.
